I have a Jackson Kelly and I just got new EMG pickups 81 85 no wiring diagram or installation guide

it you're replacing a passive pickups, you'll need to find a place for the battery (that'll be the hard part)
EMG specifies 25k pots, you might need those
plus a 'stereo' 1/4" output jack to switch the battery off when you unplug the guitar.
if you're not using the EMG routing bus (connector block thingie) yo want to wire it something like this

How do i wiring an active pickup and a passive pickup in same guitar

Not hard - just wire up one pickup and leave the other one alone. The active pickup will have wires that say "output + and - " - just use those to connect to the same place you would attach a passive pickup. Also, an active pickup will need space for a battery (9v). I weould consult EMG pickup installation for diagrams. You will also probably need to replace the guitar jack with a TRS, where the ring is a "killswitch" for the battery when the guitar is disconnected.

Try this diagram set: http://www.emgpickups.com/skin/frontend/emg-2013/default/pdfs/2-tw-2v-1t-only.pdf

Tone changes in pearly gates pick up

What you describe sounds like pickups fighting against each other meaning, does this occur when using pickups individually or together? This is normal when using more than one pickup together, if it occurs in single mode, something is wired wrong. Another thing is, If using single, are you splitting coils? Individual coils wired wrong can do this, a bad pickup selector switch can also. A loose wire or fiber touching the tone pot capacitor or ground could also. A dead coil on a humbucker can as well. I'm guessing that you are using these in combo meaning a possible pickup selector switch may not be switching properly. The player's level of experience is also in my mind since, all of my guitars do the exact same ONLY when I use more than one pickup. I hardly ever use more than one at a time unless I'm playing a strat.

Guitar pickup at bridge (EMG 81) is not working

several things....First I would check your battery. second, check wiring to your switch to make sure the wiring hasnt come apart from the solder joints. From there I would test your switch itself to make sure it is still good.I have had switches go bad and only have one pickup work before.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst, and it's pretty new and has worked great until now. It seems my bridge pickup lost tone and volume for some reason. My volume and tone knobs are cranked...

Need more info: 1- does the volume control still change the level? 2-Does tone control still change the tone? 3- What happens when in the center position on pickup select switch? Put pickup switch in center position (both pickups active). Then take a coin and tap on the pickups. Does bridge pickup sound lower? Lastly remove rear electronics cover and inspect all wiring for something loose or disconnected.

Can i fit EMG 81 and 85 into my Washburn PS600 without much hassle or soldering? They currently have Egnator humbucker pickups installed as stock.

EMGs have quick-connect wires now so that part shouldn't be much trouble. You will however have to carve out a cavity for a 9v battery and wire it to the pickups (you might be able to put it under the pickguard as well) . If you are worried about this I suggest you have it done professionally.

Epiphone Black Beauty controls don't seem to work properly

The volume is a common problem ... Search for wiring diagrams for your guitar to find a better wiring. Or take it to a guitar repair centre to have it fixed.

To tell which pickups are selected with the switch if it doesn't have the little plate telling you, Turn one volume down and flick the switch one way so you can hear just one pickup.

Two ways of telling which one it is picking up ... A toppy tone is the one nearest the bridge ... a bassy tone is the neck pickup ... The middle selection on the switch is both coils selected ... If you cant tell by tone ... Tap the pick up and you'll soon hear which one you have selected.
