SOURCE: Game setting on a Sylvania TV

Most T.V.'s will let you use the front buttons, keep going down to zero and it should go through them. if not ( becasue i know some just roll over) try getting into the menu settings and it might be in there.

You best bet, go to ciruite City or best buy and get a $20 universal remote, check the back and make sure you t.v. is listed as one of the models it can be used on. This is a cheap quick solution. T.V.'s use infered beams to transmit, so there all the same, just different in its signal range. each brand usually has there own that they stick with so you just get the remote, program it according to the instructions and it should work.

SOURCE: How did you get the sylvania tv into game mode with out remote

I had to use a dishnetwork remote that I had lying around. You also may able to program a direct tv remote, replaytv remote or universal remote. I have found that putting it into 'game mode' does not work. You will not be able to change the input without a remote.

Here are the instructions for the dishnetwork remote I was using (may differ slightly from yours):

Sylvania Television codes: 733, 506, 525, 536, 566, 568, 569, 573, 600, 610, 652, 654, 656, 659, 660, 664, 665, 666, 671, 672, 674, 677, 723, 724, 729

1. Verify the remote is a DISH Network remote. Look for the DISH Network logo on the bottom of the remote and Mode buttons or lights at the top. Why?

We have the codes for all DISH Network remotes and would be happy to help you with your DISH Network manufactured remote. Please contact the manufacturer of your remote for further assistance. Detailed instructions may be included in the owners' manual that came with your equipment. If not, there may be a toll-free technical support number listed.

2. Look up the Code(s) for the piece of equipment you are trying to address. If the equipment is not listed or a Power Scan is desired click here.
3. Press and hold the correct Mode button (about six seconds) until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
4. Use the number buttons to enter the three digit number (four digit for AUX mode) corresponding to the equipment. The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
5. Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
6. To verify the code works, press the mode button. Then try several different functions for that equipment. Some codes may provide partial function, or respond differently than the button's titled function. Try the other codes listed for that device until you find one that offers more complete functionality.
7. Store the remote code for future use.
8. If the remote still does not operate the device, perform the Power Scan. If still no operation, it may not be compatible with that piece of equipment.

SOURCE: Sylvania TV Headphone Jack Problem (Specifically

If the audio jack [headphone] has two black bands then it is probably stereo. The first reason you tv phone jack is messed up is because you have an internal ground problem. You may have to resolder this...hope the board is not cracked. I would not advise you to jury rig an outside connection. To do so, you may short the audio chip and that is another problem...like no audio at all. Find someone who knows something about tv repair.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much for the followup which lead me to realize the jack must be mono and must have an internal switch--with the flimsiness of the jack, it"

Change tv to game mode without control.

If there is no Menu button at its front panel controls, there is no other way to select its inputs, without remote control.

How to change sylvania tv to video without remote

I was able to get the Sylvania TV to accept a different input (the remote was lost) by connecting the DVD to a Sony VCR using composite RCA jacks then connecting that to the TV. You'll need two 3-jack (yellow, white, red composite) cables - cheap at any store. Here;s how:
1. Connect RCA output jacks from the DVD to the input female receptacles of the VCR (first cable).2. Connect output jacks from VCR to the female input jacks on TV (second cable). 3. Turn on all equipment (VCR, DVD, TV)4. Switch the VCR to "Line 1" (for my Sony VCR, this shows up as "L1") by pressing the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote (which I did have).
Your system should now work.
The principle is to "fool" the TV into thinking that it's primary input is through the RCA composite A/V jacks rather than the cable connection. No need to disconnect the cable at any time. Any functioning VCR should work well as long as you have the remote for that device. Remember, connect output on the DVD to the input on the VCR, then the output on the VCR to the input jacks on the back of the TV. If you have the connectors on the TV, VCR, and DVD, component cables should work as easily. Remember, output from the DVD goes to the input of the VCR. Theoutput from the VCR (for which you DO have the remote) goes to the input side of the TV.
Good luck!

TV isn't responding to the remote

Hello, sorry to hear that you having issues with your remote or TV.
First, comes the most common questions but its worth a shot, Did you replace the batteries?
Second, You could try and clean the infrared eye on the tv with a moist cloth to make sure the window on it is not dirty or blocked from the line of sight of the remote.
Also check you batteries once more, also take the batteries out of the remote and push on the buttons as one ore more could be stuck causing the remote to malfunction.
Worse cases are bad remote or bad control board in the TV witch cause it not to respond to the remote. First check the remote very well. You could also replace the remote at www.remotes.com or purchase a universal remote as well.
Only if the new remotes do not work you would call it a bad control board in the tv witch could cost around $90 to replace if there are part available.
Most cases would be the remotes batteries or connectors itself or batteries incorrectly installed.
Thanks for using Fixya.com

Can I program a universal remote for a Sylvania 19" TV Model 6419TD?

I have an RCA Universal Remote Control for replacing 4 remotes and it lists 12 different codes for Sylvania TVs. As far as I know they don't usually list them by model number. There is also a site called NewRemoteControl.com where I found two generic remotes for your model and each of them was listed at around $18.00 American. I'm not sure what the cost of universal remotes in your area are but, if I were you I think I would also consider that.

Is the sylvania tv no. 6419td HD compatible

If by HD compatible you're talking about the new digital signal, if you're TV is more than 3 years old, the answer is no. However, if you're talking about being capable of displaying a high definition picture (720p or 1018i or 1080p) then you can determine this by looking at the inputs on the back of the set. If you have component inputs which are red, blue, and green for video and a red and white for audio, or an HDMI input, then, yes, the TV is HD ready. S-video and composite video (yellow video input) cannot support a high definition picture.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.I hope I've earned a positive rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

No TV signal

If it's hooked to Dish network, you have a receiver to connect to the TV. If you're using the receiver's RF output on channel 3 or 4 to the TV's antenna jack, you need to have the receiver on while the TV is scanning or it won't add the receiver's output channel. You can rescan channels after you turn the receiver on. If the TV has AV input jacks and you're connecting the receiver that way, you need to switch the TV to the AV input. That may be difficult or even impossible without the TV remote.
