Sony DCR-SR200 digital Camcorder LCD is so dim I can hardly make it out. is this a user fixable problem?

No, it's most likely a broken flex LCD cable. It goes through the hinge and brakes very often. You should contact SONY and see if they would repair this for free (if you're out of warranty) as it's a factory problem.

I work for Sony.

Sony DCR-SR200 screen slowly "scrolls" vertically like the V-Hold on an old television

After researching various flexible cable numbers from different posts, I found that the SR-200 uses a unique cable, FP-610, part number 187145711. This has been discontinued and replace with part number 187145721 (same cable also used in DCR-SR300).

If you are in doubt with your camera, just take it apart up to the point of seeing the ribbon cable. The part number is printed on the side.

I found two sources for this so far, www.nexttronics.com and https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-parts.aspx. Price ranged from $30 to $40 plus shipping.
