Log into the router and look at the Wireless tab. You don't get to find the "passphrase" you get to create another one. It's invisible.

Can not find WPA number to connect with internet a PS3

This is a cut and paste but it saves me time typing.
Find the Netgear router's WPA code on its setup page. Access the setup page by typing "192.168.0.1" into your Web browser's address bar and pressing "Enter." If that number doesn't work, try "192.168.1.1" instead. Type "admin" as the username and provide your router's password. Use "password" if you haven't set a custom password. Click "Wireless Settings" at the left side of the setup page and read the WPA code from the passphrase box on the page.

Netgear Wireless router WNR1000 connect ipad

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key)To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I have just bought anew laptop cant get onto internet it wants me to type in security key i dont know what this is can you help me please?

  • If your are trying to connect via wireless from your laptop to the Netgear router, most likely it's requiring you to input the wireless security key(usually it's WEP or WPA encryption).

  • Access the router's setup page by typing http://www.routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in the address field of your browser(IE or Chrome). On the login use the default username and password(admin, password).

  • After logging in. Look at the main menu on the left, click on Wireless Settings, from there you can check the Wireless Key. If the wireless security is set to WEP, use the available Key code but If it's WPA, what you need is the passphrase.

Type the Key or Passphrase on your wireless laptop and it should connect to the router.

Cannot find wpa code

You can factory reset the router using the small button on the back, hold it in for 30 seconds with the power on to the router. This will clear all settings from the router including the password, so you will need to set up the router again after the reset.

What is my wireless password

The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key.
The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key and this is in the router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settingsconfigured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also the wireless cards inall the laptops and or computers needs to be configured with these router'swireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate withyour wireless router.

I want to set up a secure netgear wireless connection

THIS IS A SUPER QUICK AND EASY FIX!

Use an Ethernet cable to connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the NETGEAR router.

  1. In a web browser, enter the router's IP address - either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 by default.
  2. When prompted for a Username and Password, enter the default username and password (admin; password) unless you have already changed it. NETGEAR recommends changing the default password to increase the security of your network.

Select Wireless Settings from the Setup menu in the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Under Wireless Network, enter your desired network name in the Name (SSID) box.
  4. Under Security Options, select WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES].
  5. Under Security Options (WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK), enter your desired network password into the Passphrase box.
    • WRITE DOWN or KEEP NOTE of your network name, security option and passphrase - you will require them to connect wireless computers and devices to your network.
  6. Click Apply to save the settings

My wireless HP prn stopped working suddenly with NetGear router

You need to go into the netgear router settings online with a computer that is attached to the router. You enter this:192.168.0.1 in the address bar to gain access. You need to know your username and password to gain access to the menu. Then check the wireless settings to see or change the passphrase. Good Luck

Laptop won't recognize the network, No installation CD, other solutions?

This sounds like you have either WEP or WPA enable on the network you are trying to connect too. Are you connecting through a wireless network? If not try adding a passphrase using WPA-TKIP and see if that helps.

Installing a netgear router

Jen;

Optimum appears to be a cable company. From what I can see on their site they provide no guidance as to how to configure your router. Both pieces of information (and info from the netgear site) lead me to believe that they operate successfully with the factory default configuration in the router.

Currently you probably have an ethernet cable connecting Optimum's modem to one of your computers. That cable needs to connect to the single Internet port on the router instead of your computer. Then connect another ethernet cable to one of the 4 lan or local ports and to your computer. Plug the power into the router. Reboot your connected machine -- Assuming your computer is setup for dynamic addressing it should be working.

If this router is wireless and you have wireless computers to attach -- power on their wireless adapters (built-in adapters have a switch or button). With any luck they will access the internet successfully.

If you have wireless you probably want to change the network name (SSID) from the default name to something like jennet or something else you like.

Now to secure your wireless network, if you have one you need to consult your router's User Guide to see if it supports either WEP or WPA. Likewise check your wireless adapters (could be built in to your computer) to see if they support WEP or WPA. If they all support WPA choose WPA. If not all WPA, if they all support WEP then choose WEP. Wither will require you to configure your router and enter a passphrase. After that is completed you will need to return to your wireless devices and reboot them and when connecting to the network you will have to specifically choose jennet or whatever you named it you will be prompted one time for the passphrase -- enter it. now only computers with the passphrase can access your network.
