The rechargeable battery inside the unit is made by a company called Yuku out of Quongdong, China. It is a 3.7V double layer battery with (3) soldered connections. I have not found a replacement yet, but am still looking.
Even though the unit is new, it does not mean the battery has not gone beyond its expiration date, for chargability. Hence new unit, old battery.
Miccey.
As of Aug 2012, I've been researching for days. I just visited a shop where the owner told me to "/37" means it was mass produced for a discount price for stores with no intention of servicing the unit in the future. I called Philips, the battery is discontinued. As much as I love this unit, it may be the end of the road. I can be reached via [email protected].
