My ps2 wont work at all like the lense moves and everything but it doesn't sound like it's turning how do I fix it and make it spin?

I bough ps2 with cracked after 3-4 days not working dvds are not read.
sometime it's working some dvds..
so plz solve my problem...

well in that case you need to get a new lense and motor to spin the disc thats just not working at the moment so when you get a new 1 it will be fixed

I had the same problem with mine. it would play the ps2 games just fine but when i put a DVD in, it would click and keep saying reading disc.. i took it apart and gently cleaned the lense with a qtip and now it works fine

its broken bcuz u probly dropped or roughed it buy a new 1

it seems there has been a malfunction within your CD Drive, this is what is causing the CD drive to not spin or read the disc. these problems can be only generally resolved by either getting the console repaired/replaced unfortunately.

The PS2 will still turn on and run because the CD Drive does not dictate whether the console works or not, but because the CD Drive is broken, you will not be able to play games or watch DVD Films unless you have the CD Drive Repaired.

Your lazer lense has bit the dust. Depending on your model type the first gen systems lazers are very easy to replace. The later versions sony made it harder to replace. You can find out what model you have by looking at the back of your PS2 then you can either call sony or go to there website and find out what generation PS2 you have. Then go from there. the reason it makes the "grinding" noise is because the motor that moves the lens to read the disk is dieing, this generally happens when you have played your ps2 for a long time, this only happens to older consoles.

I hate to be the bearer or bad tidings, but it sounds like the previous owner tried to repair the DVD tray and failed. You might want to take the unit apart and see if there are any internal screws missing. If there are any missing, it can definitely cause issues with the spin up on the DVD tray. If everything is intact, you may have to replace the DVD tray. Hope this helps. Good luck.
