I bought the 500mm f/8 lens for my Sony a100 camera. When I put it on my camera it says no lens attached how do I fix this problem?

You didn't specify which 500mm f/8 lens, so I'm assuming it's one of those without the electronics to communicate with the camera. If that is so, then the camera will report that there is no lens attached. You have to switch the camera to the Manual exposure mode and set the exposure yourself.

If the lens was the only area to get wet then yes replacing it should resolve the issue.

While taking photos yesterday, my shutter button stayed down or wouldn't click. The "no lens attached" came on, even though I had just finished taking some photos. My Sony a100 is 5 years old and...

There is propably a connection problem between the camera and the lens. Try taking the lens og the camera, and reattach it. If this does not work, try cleaning the golden connectors on the lens and the camera. Use a q-tip, gently rub the connectors, and reattatch the lens. If this does not work, you should get the camera serviced at a repair center.

Sony a100 match ups

Yes, when Sony took over Konica Minolta they inherited the Maxxum lens mount (Minolta's AF lens mount system). the only Minolta lenses which don't work are the earlier manual focus type.

Sony have finally launched three new models which are the first to be clearly Sony designed, but they have still retained the Maxxum lens mounting.

I have a sony a100. It says unable to use card

What card do you use on the A100? And what capacity? Are you sure you have inserted it in the correct way? Be careful while inserting a CF card because of you insert it wrongly, it can damage the camera. Zooming is done using the zoom ring on the lens barrel. Just twist the zoom ring. Hope you are using the 18-70mm kit lens with the camera.

Sony a100 keeps locking up and giving an error cod = 0x57

Try turning the camera off, take the battery out, reinsert it. If that doesn't work, the manual says to contact your local Sony dealer. You might also want to try taking the lens off, making sure nothing is hindering its communication to the camera body. Try using another lens if you have one.

Sony A100 compatibility

It would help if you actually gave details of the lens!

All the old Minolta AF and MF lenses will fit the Sony A100, but only the AF are auto-focus compatible.

Since the Maxxum 7000 was an AF camera, I would image that that is an AF lens pictured on the front.
