Could be black because your lcd has gone out and needs replaced. Send to repairs and they will look at it and tell you if it will cost to replace or if covered by warranty.

In PLAY mode press down-arrow. Use left/right arrows to scroll through the pictures and display the one you want to delete. Use up/down to select "Delete." Press SET to delete the picture. Repeat as necessary. Press MENU to exit.
Another option is to replace the screen yourself. I just crack my screen on my Z850 and will attempt to replace the screen myself. You can purchase a replacement screen on ebay for about $60. I have the same problem but could not find any solution as yet.
My work around is to switch of the flash and shoot with manual controls - of course that only works well when using a tripod or someting similar.
I think it is a bug with the flash loader wich seems not to give the go for shooting until flash preload is finished. If anybody has a real solution I'd be happy to read.
