SOURCE: Is there any way to disable the automatic shutoff on drip coffee
mine decided to disable that function altogether, and it wont shut off unless I unplug it. Nice, safe piece of ****, Hamilton Beach!

I figured it out. The hot water/steamer nozzle tube was plugged. The water pump provides sufficient pressure that it breaches the o-ring seals that seal the nozzle tube to the appliance. That's where the water was escaping from. I used a thin wire 6" long to remove the blockage (one of my kid's art's and crafts pipe cleaners). Then ran the hot water for 60 seconds to flush out the tube. The rest of the coffee maker's "new filter" cycle went smoothly. Hope this helps someone else.
