I turn the camera to record and it blinks an icon which resembles ejeciting the tape. It is a triangle over a line. It also blinks "C:31:23" It will not allow me to record. What is it?

You need to try to eject the tape and put it back in the camera. That error means that something has happened with the tape transport and the camera could need a cleaning tape but not necessarily. Try re-inserting the tape. If the error appears again, try a different tape. If the error still appears, run a cleaning tape in the camera on playback for 8-14 seconds (no longer!). Then put a regular tape back in. If you still see the error, there is probably a mechanical problem in the tape transport and the camera will need to be repaired. It's possible it could just need a clean and lube on the mechanical parts, but in any case you will need to take it to a camera shop for an estimate.

A red blinking light is on the screen, and the tape does not run while record button is pushed. can not identify what the red flashing picture is, but there is a red line running threw it

The Red flashing icon with the line through it says there is no tape in the camera. This could possibly be a problem in the cameras tape detection circuitry and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I placed a sony digital8/Hi8 tape in the camera and attempted to record but only got a blinking yellow underscored triangle in the middle of the screen and a blinking code; C32:00 in the upper right corner...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error C 32:00 is caused due to bad Gear assembly, to resolve this issue with the battery &cassette removed try whack on the underside, if after doing this still the issue is not resolved then you'll have to get the Gear assembly replaced. To remove the tape thats stuck you'll have to remove the two screws that hold the cover on the tape holder. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

I have a Sony PDX-10 and it's giving me two blinking yellow symbols (underlinded triangle and tape with line through it) when I fire it up loaded with a tape. Tried changing with tapes that work fine in...

Hello,
Looking at PDX 10 User Manual Page 232

Your description -

Under lined Triangle

Cassette Ejection needed
Slow Flashing: The Write protect tab exposed

Fast Flashing: Moisture Condensation
Cassette out of tape
Self diagnosis display function activated

Sounds like the diagnosis function maybe your best shot......
Check displayed error codes in viewfinder on Page 231 of the User Manual or let me know if you dont have copy of them.

Tape Symbol Flashing:

Tape near end
No cassette inserted
The write protect tab exposed.

I think this is basically telling you the loading mechanism has a problem, the viewfinder is displaying an error code indicating the nature of the fault..... IF error Code is : E61:........ or E62........ (dots indicate extra numbers) these MUST be referred to Sony Service Centre.

Hope this may help

Can not record or playback video

This could be a card you may have plugged in that is not compatible like SD card, remove that and try again, also make sure your tape heads are clean with one of those head cleaner tapes.

Error message; has something to do with insertion of tape. Looks like triangle over straight line. beeps and blinks, will not play. Working when loaned to a "friend", returned in this condition...

Will it record on a new tape? Will it play a different tape? Have had a similar problem with a different camera. Think it had to do with the record mode / play back. A bit like standard play and long play - are there setting like that you could change?

NEED HELP

G'day,

I also have the same problem and after almost buying a replacement I thought I would try one time to get it to go.

What I did was start the cam without a tape in it, let it bring up the little red icon indicating no tape inserted, (it hadn't started flashing "PLEASE RE-OPERATE AFTER PUSHING RESET BUTTON" at this stage) then I inserted my tape. Hey presto, it works although for how long I don't know. I'll immediately start burn my tapes to disc while the going is good.

Hope this helps someone

Can't record

the reel sensor is the problem of your camera...sometimes it is a cold solder or poor contact at the socket in the main board.....

Canon xl1

I had the exact same problem; my tape icon was flashing red with a line through it and the recorder would not record, no matter how hard I begged it to. After a full day of frustration, I called the videographer who had used it previously. There is a little trick.

1. Open the exterior tape door with the "Eject" button.
2. Wait, dont touch the tape. The little metal encasement will pop over and open within a few seconds.
3. To properly put the tape in, insert tape, push the little metal door that sais "Push this first".
4. Then push the exterior door closed.

Voila! Thats all there is to it!

Panasonic NS-DV 65 video camera, Tape not detected?

TRY THIS, (CREDIT TO LABBER) IT WORKED FOR ME
I did have a similar problem as above, and has not been able to use the camera for a long time as power turns itself off in less than 2 mins. I tried the solution #3 (by labber) above. which i have copied and pasted below .
1. Take out the tape - mine stayed on longer (without blinking) when the tape was not in.
2. press the menu button (near the viewfinder)
3. Use he wheel on top next to the viewfinderto scroll through the choices
4. Choose "display setup" by pushing the wheel in
5. Choose "C. Rest" by pushing the wheel in
6. Turn camera off
7. Next time you turn camera on you should be able to view tapes and record.
IT DID NOT WORK THE FISRT TIME SO I PUT MY FINGER IN TO TRY TO GENTLY PUSH BUTTON WHEN I TOOK THE TAPE OFF AND THEN TRIED SOLUTION ABOVE AGAIN, AND THIS TIME, IT WORKED. BUT PLEASE DONT INSERT YOUR FINGERS IN AS I DID TRY THE SOLUTION 2 OR THREE TIME IT SHOULD BE OK, HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU,
THANKS HOPE THIS HELPS.

LCD won't project

You may have a problem with the image sensor device (CCD). From October 3, 2005 through October 2, 2007, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned problem where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue. To see if you have this problem: Power On your camcorder (make sure the battery is fully charged). Check the LCD screen and verify that the display icons are turned on. If you cannot see the icons, press the Display button until the icons are visible. Put a tape in the camcorder. With the lens cap off, record some video. NOTE: Be sure to speak during the recording so the video will contain your voice. Rewind this section of the tape (using tape counter to verify start of your recording). Play back the recorded video and use the LCD screen on the camcorder to view it. You should hear the audio you recorded and the Display icons/text will still appear. If your camcorder is affected by this CCD issue, the picture will either be extremely distorted, or there will be no visible picture (just a blank LCD screen with the display icons still visible).
