Why does it take 10 tries for my 37" LG HDTV to come on? I'll explain: Over the last month this has been getting progressively worse. It started with only 2 or 3 attempts but now has turned into 10 or more. I turn the power on and the red light blinks, then turns green but no picture just a black screen. This happens 7 or 8 times and by the 9th try the screen atleast lights up but still no picture. Then a spark or flash on the screen and then it goes black again. By the 10th attempt the picture finally comes on. Most recently after the picture (after the 10th attempt) comes on it seems to go off again and I have to turn it on again. Can someone explain this problem?

My 37" LG HDTV power

This is a classic switchmode power supply, has sensed a severe potential problem, and is shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. There are many, many, many reasons that display this symptom, one must work through the troubleshooting steps to isolate and identify, the Cause and repair that and any damage done

My 52inch xbr4 tv is 2 years old. Intermitently over past 2 months, when I first turned it on, I get thin vertical lines and double imaging especially over left half of screen. After a few minutes it would...

I have the same issue. Bought the TV 1/08 and it started showing those exact symptoms about 3-4 months ago. It generally progresses and gets worse. You can try to fix it as it's some kind of TAB connector issue, or keep calling Sony so that the 52" owners of the XBR4 and 5 series get the extended warranty just like the 46" owners received for the same series. If enough of us keep calling, they'll have to act.

I hope youre lucky enough for that to be the only time, but mine has been doing this for over a year, getting progressively worse. As of the last 2 days, it has to sit over night b4 it will show an image again. Good luck with this B.S. tv. (Just spent $250 on new bulb last month too, had set 2 yrs. )
