Not getting cool enough

During very cold ambient temperatures the refrigerator may stay cold enough to seldom need to operate the cooling unit. The thermister (thermostat) is in the refrigerator and tells the cooling unit when to operate. With the refrigerator staying cold enough because of outside temperatures, the freezer may not be kept cold enough. The Climate Control Switch keeps the light on in the refrigerator when the door is shut so the unit will operate more often, keeping the freezer cold enough. Dometic recommends turning the switch off during warm weather.

If the RV was level when it did not function. First you will want to open the rear vent of the fridge on the RV and check for a yellow residue above the burner area. If you do see that, then you will require a replacement cooling unit because the pipe ruptured. It is common in all new RV fridges that the cooling units lets go within 3 to 7 years. the compressor has an internal overlod inside of it after 115 degress it opens and wont start till it cools down below 115 unplug and try putting ice cubes on top of com pessor to cool it down otherwise it will take hours to cool off

If it won't cool on all 3 power sources the cooling unit is probably faulty. Contact Thetford asap if the unit is uner 3 years old as it should be under warranty. Thetford won't sell a replacement cooling unit, their only answer is that you need to buy a new fridge at over £600. I have this problem too and am looking for another solution but to luck so far

See if helping the fan turn will get it going thrn let it run awhile.. The fan motors rake a set if not used often enough.

could have a restriction in coils. not bad enough to effect cooling but not letting unit to cool of properly from coils

The evaporator coil is not getting cold enough to draw the humidity out. You may need to clean the indoor and outdoor coils thoroughly. If the unit still isn't cooling right, it is probably due to a refrigerant leak in the system. You will have to to have the unit looked at by a professional if there is a leak. Leaks can be very difficult to find and very costly. Most of the time, it is more cost effective to replace it if necessary.

this sounds like a compressor problem. if the outside coils are getting hot (and properly ventilated) but the inside of the unit is not getting cold then the heat is coming from the compressor.
