Hi. I have a 2Wire 3800HGV-B router/modem & I can't get port forwarding to work with it. I just got an IP security camera that I'm trying to get to work wirelessly & so far I haven't figured out how to do it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

WHEN YOU OPEN A PORT YOU NEED TO ASSIGN THE DEVICE THAT GOES ASSOCIATED WITH IT...LIKE PC1 IP 192.168.1.1 PC2 IP 192.168.1.2 THE PORT YOU WANT TO OPEN NEEDS TO BE ASSOCIATED TO EITHER PC1 0R PC2 WHICH EVER IS RUNNING YOUR APLICATION...TEKGODS.COM
It doesn't matter which port your PC is plugged into, the router will take care of that. You need to turn the wireless system on. You do this from inside the routers configuration pages which you access through your browser. Being a 2wire router, you may have to use the software on the 2wire website. Alternatively, you can try entering ip addresses into the browser address window. Try 198.162.1.1 or 198.162.0.1 etc
Once you access the router, turn wireless on and activate the security. Enter a code key and write it down as you will need to enter the same code into every PC or laptop that you wish to use the wireless connection. Setting up the wireless connection on your laptop is easy, just tell the laptop to search for available networks and when it finds the 2wire router, tell it to connect. It will then ask for the code key. Enter it and all should be well.
Follow The Process:-
1.Visit https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports
input the port 5000 and check is it open or not, if it is not open it means you need to check port forwarding in your main internet router/modem.
2. By Default Routers/Modems Http port it 80. so you need to change ip camera http port 80 to 81 and do port forwarding and to view on android devices check another ports in ip camera network settings. so same port forwarding and check in yougetsignal website.
Hello my friend,
You can disable all routing functions for your Home Portal. I never advise this as a course of action as it typically causes more issues than it resolves - so procede at your own risk.
- use the button on the back to reset to factory state (hold for 30 seconds) - browse to gateway.2wire.net/mdc - click on configure under broadband link - set ATM PVC search to disabled - set connection type to direct IP - click on configure services under the advanced heading - take note of the text under "If you want to connect to the gateway when it is in bridged mode" - un-check the enable routing box - submit your settings
You need to find out what ports your ip cameras use, and then setup port forwarding on your router. If you have 1 box that controls all the cameras, you just need to forward port 80 traffic to that box. If you have multiple cameras with NO main junction box, you will need to go into the setup on each camera, and specify a port to use. Then in the router, set up port forwarding to forward each different port, to the camera it goes with. Then when you want to see the camera from home you would type the ip address in the browser, then a colon, then the port number --> IPADDRESS:81
What you have to do is ,first covert the modem into bridge mode, then configure the router in pppoe modem by having internet username and password from ISP .. that will resolve your problem
You might have forwarded the wrong ports of the camera to the wrong IP address. Make sure you assign static IP on the camera. Firewalls should be turned off as well.
make wsure that that port 1024 is assigned to the ip address of the camera under port forwarding, you can also try changing the remote port, try 5000 and above, if it still does not work try DMZ.
you can always check if port 1024 is open on your router by performing a port scan through the net, you can get a free port scanner on this site.. www.t1shopper.com
for the process on doing fort forwarding on your 2wire router check this link.
Thanx for the tip. I checked it out
