Try this website that exports various brand generators such as Cummins, Volvo, Perkins, Ricardo, Yuchai, Deutz, Daewoo, etc and various genset style such as low noise genset, container genset, portable genset, trailer genset and so on. Generator Diesel Generator Cummins Generator Volvo Generator Perkins...
if by asking this im assuming the generator is face bolted to motor , if this is so , to save from having another front bearing , the gen stator is directed attached to motor shaft , on the far end under end bell cover is the end of shaft , a long bolt goes thru gen shaft to screw into motor shaft , MARK/photograph all the wires you unhook helps a lot when puting back together
Take off the end cover on the generator. There is a bolt that goes thru the shaft that bolts to the engine Once that's out then the remaining bolts on the housing come out to seperate the generator from the engine.
The internals of the generator have to be removed and you'll need a gear puller to seperate the engine from the generator housing because they're pressed together. It can be a pain in the neck. There's videos on you tube on how to do it
Generators are getting more complicated due to the addition of solid state regulators and capacitors. In the old days, there was only brush pack and diode pack. If you would like to seperate the generator to repair the engine you must make sure not to damage wiring or brushes. You will need to remove the stator first so remove back cover to expose bolts holding stater to bell. Make note of all connections from stator to panel and remove all the wires. Remove brush pack if brush type. Pull stator out exposing the armature. Armature has center bolt to crankshaft (remove bolt). The armature is sitting on tapered engine shaft that may be rusty. Apply oil to shaft of engine directing oil to the tapered part (wd40 or similar) from the bell side and thru the bolt hole. Notice the two sides of the armature that are lamanated steel. Using small piece of hardwood against lamanated part rap solidly with heavy hammer once on each side being carefull not to damage metal or winding. Should pop loose with first or second hit. If no joy, re-apply oil but follow with a shot of carb cleaner. The carb cleaner will make the oil penetrate deeper /faster. Good luck
Center bolt in the rotor- rotating field bolted to end of crankshaft must come out first- it will likely be a left-hand thread as well.
Once that is out, you can see if the mounting bolts (usually 4) that hold the end bell of generator to the engine can be removed- many times they can with enough socket extension- once those bolts are removed the engine should split from the generator with ease.
you need a tool that is like a rod which is threaded on one end and has a flat head on the other.they come in different length it goes through the rotor shaft and screwed into engine shaft using a screwdriver then you have to tap the end of rotor shaft with a desired thread pitch and use a bolt to drive into rod .
Simply unbolt it...nothing sp[ecial there remove the bolts that hold the generator to the engine housing the remove the bolts the hold the gen to the frame (if any)...REMOVE GENERATOR
Hello, Has this generator been setting for awhile or was it in use when the power ever came back on? Have you tried to repolarize it? To do this , Shut off the generator and unplug any cords or wiring from unit. Take a electrical cord that has a plug on one end and seperate the wires on the other end of cord. Strip the ends of the wire back about half an inch on each seperated wire.Plug the Male end of the wire into one of the 110V recepticles. Connect one of the ends of the wire you stripped back to the positive side of a 12 volt battery. Now with the other end of the wire you stripped back touch it to the Negative side of the battery for 1 sec and remove it. Unplug the wire from the recepticle and battery. Fire up the Generator and check the voltage! This repolarizes the unit and fixes most non generating problems from Non use and back feeding! Hope that helped! Rick
