Lexicon Omega USB on new HP Dual core laptop pc running vista 4GB Ram

Well I guess I thought that my new vista home premium computer would run omega no probs as I've heard good things but the latency in audio and even (gasp) midi is intolerable. No good for professional applications - I've become stagnant creatively as a result...

Are there known issues for vista and the omega?

I'm using the latest drivers available (2.0)

Thanks
Asiima

Had lexicon omega working on an xp machine for long time no trouble..try to hook it to my vista laptop with sonar 7 pe and it crashes often...even when running media player through it...its so random...im running the current drivers 2.5 available at lexiconpro.com but when it feels like it the thing just stops...pull the usb cord and sure enough blue light stays on...unplug it for a sec and start it all back up and bam...back in business..thing is you can go hours like 8 or 9..and then it will crash twice within 10 minutes!! whats that all about...bottom line..the drivers are trash..btw..do not..i repeat do not attempt to hook midi up through it...youve been warned

I fixed it by using Asio4all with the Omega rebooted in wdm mode instead of the omega asio driver. Instant success - latency dropped from over 100ms to 17ms.

Hard to believe that a generic driver could be better than the software that came with it - but it is!

You said the magic phrase premiume HOME computer...
and the key word VISTA.
I've heard of VISTA pro running this but the home version is really not that robust for the type of gear you have there.
vista just has to many bugs.
go back to xp pro sp2 for good results.
good luck

another way is to check your USB ports in device manager.

find the lexicon entries and anything relating to USB.

uninstall the driver and reboot and see if vista will plug and play by installing a generic driver.

XP will do this. not too sure about Vista.

    wortha try.

    goodluck

Haven't used my lexicon omega in years, cant find the serial number.is there away to get it from Lexicon? Or any other place?

tell why you need the SN, it is out of warranty or the software app for it asks for SN?????
no PC told nor OS told.
no context told (why do you ask, MISSING)

Lexicon produced an expensive PCI card/breakout box combo dubbed the Studio back in 1998 (reviewed SOS July 1998

You don't even need to install drivers with Mac OS X: the Omega integrates right away with Core Audio (as long as you're using Mac OS 10.2.8 or above).

lost the 1998 software bundle CD???? OOBE lost now?
it runs w2k and XP

support is here.
https://lexiconpro.com/en-US

the review is here.
https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/lexicon-omega

connect power and usb to the below jack.
then in windows (is it windows. gee)
load the CD bundle software.
and go to device manager. (XP?)
then there, find the LEX line. off USB.
then at the LEX entry right click it and pick Properties and then, click tab details and all Ids
there to find serial if lucky.

Is there a way to reset the Lexicon Omega (power up holding down buttons?)

You can reset your Omega by powering on the unit while holding down the Mic USB button and the Line 3 USB button.

I have just tried to instaall my Omega on windows XP service pack 2. The PC recognises a new USB device and the wizard launches but fails to find a suitable driver. I cannot get to the point where I run...

Forget the wizard. Put the diver disc in that came with the lexicon. If all fails take it all out and start again after rebooting. Make sure you have a faster processer and plenty of ram.

Omega Studio won't record to computer

The omega is like an external sound card. It has to be connected via your computer with a device driver, the software that came with the lexicon. Then you record on a software program such as Cubase.
Go to the guitar center for more help or go to google .com and type in lexicon omega. Lots of sights to look for answers or better yet go to lexicon omega's home site.

Computer type

My experience is that it doesn't work well on ANY computer. I would steer clear of the Omega. I have had one and have had nothing but grief.

That being said it "should" work theoretically.
