We have a Bunn thermofresh coffee maker and I use it about 2 times a week. I have lost the instructions and am having a problem. I remember I am suppose to to put a thermo pot of cold water into the reservoir, then put the filter/coffee in and close the cover to the reservoir. When the coffee makes it is not hot. I can only get hot coffee if 2-3 pots of coffee. We can hear the coffee maker making a sound off and on during the day that sounds like the water is simmering in the tall cylender on the back of the coffee maker. If I need to furnish the model #, please advise where to look. Thanks

Are you leaving the machine on all the time? If not, you need to turn it on and leave on for 15 minutes before brewing a pot of coffee. If you will get the model and date# from the bottom of the brewer and give us a call we will be happy to assist you with this.

BT-10-B Bunn Thermofresh that will not heat or fill pot

Lots of times minerals clooect on the heating element and inside the heating chamber. The easiest thing to try is to put white vinegar into the filler, displacing some of the water into the pot. Leave this to soak for about an hour, then flush with several pots of water until the vinegar smell cannot be detected in the water. Make sure that the switch on the side is "ON". You may have an indicator light. The switch on the upper front is for the warmer. The reason you only got a partial pot of water is that the reservoir wasn't completely full. Once you have filled it completely, you should fet a full pot out for every full pot in. If all of the above gives you no relief, you may need to test the heating element for voltage and continuity. If it tests 'open', you will need to replace it.

The water coming out of the machine is dark like there is oil or something mixing in somewhere.. this is when i run clean water through without coffee

The only way for anything to be in the reservoir is what is put into it. It is like a thermos say. If it has been sitting for a long time or you aren't the original owner it is possible someone poured coffee back through it or it is just nasty stuff that forms after it has set a long time. It will take lots of flushing and white vinegar treatments to get it clean but Bunns are worth it. I left instructions on another post of someone who needed a manual explaining how to do it. I found one at Goodwill. It is a ThermoFresh. No one but me would have attempted to bring it back to its original condition but after working with it about a week it was all worth it. We're talking "Nasty". The water now runs clear and I have cleaned it inside and out. I paid $8.00 for it and saved about $170.00. I have had a Bunn since 1989 and I still use it every day. They are worth the effort.
