If you are sure that you have your TV on the correct input, you can try resetting the PS3's video settings using the following procedure:

  1. Before changing cables, make sure the PlayStation 3 is turned off using the main power switch on the back of the PlayStation 3 (the 0 side is pressed down).

  2. Unplug the power cord of the PlayStation 3 and television (or display) from the wall socket.

  3. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the [HDMI OUT] port on the back of the PlayStation 3 system.

  4. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI Input] port of the TV or display monitor.

  5. Plug the PlayStation 3 and television (or display) back in to the wall socket.

  6. Turn the main power switch on the back of the PlayStation 3 back on (the line on the power button is now pressed).

  7. While the PlayStation 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.

  8. Turn ON the PlayStation 3 and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).
If that does not resolve your issue, try the other steps here:

Wii system turns on and responds to controller but there is no picture you can hear the system working on the tv but not picture

If you have no picture but sound, then your video input is not plugged in correctly.

Please double check your red yellow and white to make sure they are all the way in and in the right order. Its a simple mistake. Try looking with a flash light if you need more light.

My ps3 will turn on but wont show a picture on the tv or give sound

Reset the video settings by turning on the ps with only the power cable plugged in, when turning on continue to hold the power button until you hear a second set of beeps then turn off the console.
Boot up the ps and plug in your av/hdmi cable and you should have picture and sound.

My ps3 has no picture but has sound

you can try this..

leave a testimonial if it works.

if it doesn't write back and we will try another idea I have.

From the PS32_bing.gif main menu:

1. Settings->Sound Settings->Audio Output Settings
2. Change it from HDMI to Digital Out (Optical). I do NOT have optical hooked up on my PS3, so if you have it hooked up, you may want to unhook it.. probably shouldn't matter.
3. I left what was defaulted: "Linear PCM 2 Ch. 44.1 kHz" and 48kHz
4. Right on the D pad (X selects/unselects options) to move to the next screen.
5. A confirmation page, hit X to Enter, saving the changes.
6. Start up a game, you shouldn't hear any sound (as expected)
7. Exit the game, then go back to Audio Output Settings and switch back to HDMI. I selected "Automatic" for "method for setting the output format."
8. A confirmation page, hit X to Enter, saving the changes.
9. Start up a game, you should now hear audio with your game (once again).

My issue I believe was caused because I had been using a different TV2_bing.gif for a while. Somehow, when I switched back to my original TV, the settings did not automatically reset back.

Good Luck!

I have no picture but hear the sound of the system on my tv

It could be 3 things:

Your tv connections are disconnected and need to be replaced. See if anything else works when plugged into these connections.

Your cable cord could have a disconnect internally and the cord needs replaced.

Your graphics card on you XBOX 360 is shot any you need to replace it.

Good luck and please rate my solution accordingly.

Sound but no picture

Hook up the composite cables that come with the unit. Turn the TV on to the correct input. Turn the PS3 on using the power button on the unit. When you press the button continue holding the button until you hear a second beep....about five seconds. That should set the PS3 back to the factory output. If that corrects the problem you can set the PS3 to use whichever cable you want via the XMB.

Playstation 3 console not displaying on tv screen

Make sure all the video cable connections are plugged firmly into the back of the PS3
The sound you are hearing indicates that you are on the right track. To get the video to work you will need to select the correct channel on your TV set. Connect the video cables (yellow) to the video INPUT of the AV port of your TV and then change to the AV channel on your TV set to view the picture.

Please let me know if this did not fix your problem
