Yesterday my iPhone 3G died (like it usually does) then when I plugged it into my car charger it wouldn't come on. Tried a different car charger, still didn't work. Sometimes it'd show the apple symbol and then shut off, and sometimes it'd show the USB cord and the iTunes logo and shut off. So when I got home I tried all of my home chargers and it still didn't work. So then I went on google, looked at a couple of sites, found this site, read all the posts on here, and the only thing that worked was hold the home and lock/unlock button for 30 seconds, (while being plugged into my computer) and iTunes finally recognized it. All it kept saying was to restore it, but I refuse to do that because I have a TON of stuff on my iPhone that I haven't had a chance to put onto my iTunes yet (I just recently restored my computer so I have nothing on my iTunes). So then today I took it to an Apple store to see if somehow they'd be able to fix it without telling me that I either have to restore it or get a new iPhone. And of course they told me that, so I basically just wasted my time going there. (before I went to the apple store) Someone I know told me that it might be my battery, because my battery has been acting really messed up lately (it'll say it's at 100% or even 50% and just randomly die). Problem is, I'd have to take my iPhone apart and put it back together, if it actually is the battery, which I don't know how to do, correctly. I was thinking of maybe going to an iPhone store, like one that's a 3rd party or something, and see if they could fix it somehow. Anyone have any thoughts or anything?? Oh! And also, does anyone know if my SIM card or memory card (the card that you open up with that little tool thing, that comes with your iPhone) would have EVERYTHING, that was on my iPhone, on there????

Sounds like your battery has failed.

Your SIM card may store your contacts, but your music is stored onto your phone's internal memory.

Iphone wont wake from sleep

If the Apple store has already tried to fix it and it's still having problems then you should take it back. Tell them the restore didn't fix the problem, they should swap it for a new one.

My iphone 3gs did not charge, even though it was plugged into a wall charger overnight. Tried with the computer, and same problem. The phone is completely black, and unresponsive. What to do?

Try a different charger and to hard reset the iPhone (menu and on/off together for 5sec). If that fails too there is a hardware issue. Apple should give you a replacement. If you're out warranty, you can try to open it and replace dock connector and battery. If that fails you need a new logic board. You can get the part at iPad Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to open a kindle and install parts at iPad Repair Guide.

Shows fully charged (plug icon), but isn't taking a charge. A;ready tried reboot/restore.

Get a can of air and blow it into the 30-pin connector and headphone jack to clear the phone of dust and build-up. This should clear up the problem. I learned this from an Apple Store Genius Bar associate.
