Why does my humidifier holmes 1700 blows air but no water or mist?

If the water has been sitting in the reservoir for days without use, it may develop a film on the ultrasonic element which inhibits the creation of the mist to come out the top of your humidifier. I would lift off the tank and empty the reservoir. Then VERY GENTLY with a piece of paper towel, wipe the ultrasonic element (looks like a disk the size of a quarter at the bottom of the reservoir) to clean off any film. Then replace the tank and let the reservoir fill up the tank and try it again.

Good luck

We have a kenmore humidifier on the furance model # 48945. it doesn't stop running so our water bill is twice what it should be. I've tried to find a manuel on line so i can figure out how to...

Noodles, it sounds like the float valve inside the water reservoir is stuck in the down position. Turn the water line ON/OFF valve to the humidifier OFF. Open the top of the reservoir and you will see the float valve. Gently, lift it up, to see if it will remain at the top of the water level, which left in the reservoir. It it doesn't, then the float needs to be replaced. In the mean time, leave the water line ON/OFF Valve OFF.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

The tank empty light won't shut off even with water in the tank.

The float valve is probably stuck. Empty the water out of the reservoir and clean the tank with 50/50 White Vinegar and water.

EE-3191--This is a frog humidifer that i got from toys r us, there is lime (white crust)build up where the water goes how do i clean the inside of it ?

There is a product called CLR (calcium, lime, rust) that will do the job well. It is available at almost all hardware and grocery stores. Be sure to rinse the reservoir well before use. If you use distilled water, you will not get the build up. Hope this helps:)

How to clean humidifier,steam type

Use white vinegar. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to 1 cup of water to the water reservoir to allow it to disolve any mineral (from water deposits.) and run the humidifier to allow the solution to disolve the deposits inside the unit.

This should take care of any minor issues. If you're looking to clean something else, check online for an owner's manual.

Cleaned my Venta VS207 now it won't work. Only flashes.

My unit was doing the same thing as others here and I was able to fix the issue. I believe the issue is that the sensor for the water level, which is located in a tube connecting the two water reservoirs in the main unit, has something blocking the sensor. Most likely this is bacteria growth or other debris which has built up over time. I used Oxy Clean which has some bubbling action and very hot water to clean both sides for about 30 minutes. When I flushed out the reservoir, it started working again.
If take the base off the unit by removing the 4 screws, you will see the "tube" I'm talking about. Since this has what appears to be sensors in it, I didn't want to remove the tube from the bottom to clean it and instead to the approach above. Hope this helps someone.

Venta 207 digital humidifier

Caring For Your Venta-Sonic Humidifier
IMPORTANT!
Always unplug the unit before cleaning!
When to Clean Your Humidifier
Clean your humidifier weekly or more often during heavy use, depending on your
individual water quality. Clean your humidifier before storing and after long periods
of storage.
When cleaning the inside of your unit, keep water away from the air outlet. Exterior
may be wiped with a damp cloth when unit is off and unplugged.
Cleaning the Oscillator and Water Sensor
Turn off the unit and unplug power cord. Remove tank from base and empty
reservoir in base. Use cleaning brush provided in base to clean off mineral deposits
and sediment from oscillator and water sensor. Do not scrape or clean with tools
that have metal parts. Be careful to not damage the surface of the oscillator.
ATTENTION: Damage to the oscillator may cause the unit to not work properly.
The oscillator (ultrasonic transducer) is highly sensitive. Keep this important part
clean and treat gently. Do not touch the oscillator while the unit is operating.
Do not use soap, cleaning agents, detergents, or other chemicals for cleaning the
tank and humidifier.
After cleaning fill water tank (see instructions above) and return tank to base.
Storing the Venta-Sonic
Switch off and unplug power cord from A/C outlet. Empty remaining water from base
and tank. Clean tank and unit (see for instructions above). Make sure all parts are
thoroughly dry—allow at least 24 hours to dry. Leave the filling cap of the tank
loosened. This will keep the cap and gasket from sticking together. Pack Venta-Sonic
in original packaging and store in a cool and dry place.

Good Luck.

Cleaning

I also need some information on cleaning, specifically the base. Not sure if I should use soap or if that will affect the nebulizer?
For cleaning the reservoir, just add a capfull of bleach to some water, and swish it around intermittently for about 20 minutes -- rinse until you don't smell bleach anymore.
