We just got a Lanier 6540 Copier donated to our center. I am trying to get it to work, but we weren't given any sort of manual for it and I can't find anything on the internet. I think it is too old for there to be .pdf manuals on-line, I can't find any paper manuals for purchase either, is there a way to get anything for something of this age?

Lanier 5618 is not a Network Copier. However, it may be installed on one PC and shared from there. Drivers are available from LANIER Official Support

exposure lamp open circuit replace or lamp regulator faulty also check thermo fuse 1st thing to check change auto exposure to manual this will tell you if regulator is faulty or not

U14 - Toner waste bottle full. Replace the waste bottle (plastic box at the bottom middle) with a new one or try to empty it.

To be absolutely sure no personal info is stored you should remove the harddrive and either destroy it or have cleaned by a professional service. You can do it yourself with a few rare earth magnets.

Lanier and Ricoh have been having a huge problem with their touch screens going bad. If you have a service contract on your copier, you should be able to get it replaced for free under the warranty.

In the meantime, try turning the machine off and back on, and you might be able to get it working temporarily.

Check the fuser units geares,the main motor thermofusese and thermistors and the main motors driver.

I have worked for Lanier for 20 years, the 6725 was a great machine, but getting parts, spending $$$ and still having an old copier. Lanier is owned by Ricoh and all machines are Ricoh with a Lanier sticker on it. Its time.

As one retired from that industry, my choice between those would be Sharp; Lanier support is much inferior to others. If you have a service company in your area, I can also recommend Canon and Toshiba as reliable machines. The best built copier of them all (IMHO of course), is Minolta but they are hell on wheels when they do need service and their support for their units is tightly controlled and independent service companies are pretty much shut out of parts procurement or ripped off in price.
Modern cartridge-based machines aren't nearly as service intensive as earlier but it is still wise to check on local support before choosing.  

Try this press the "yellow/ca" botton, then enter 1-0-7, then press and hold the "red" stop" till the display changes. Once, it changes turn the Main power switch OFF. Not the one on the control pannel. Let it power down then turn it back ON. If the problem is still there try to turn the copier Off again and unplug the sorter/ finisher and turn the copier back ON. Is the problem gone, if so you may have to get a service person come in and repair the sorter. Good Luck.....

Go on line to Lanier.com, chose manuals. Then put your model in and that you want the users manual and down load it. Most of these kind of manuals are free to copy.
