I have problem. LCD projector Sony XGA VPL-EX7, its work and result projection in screen/wall is good but only work 1-2 minutes and off then power off/shut down. After start again its only work 1-2 minutes and same again continue like that( i am sorry i still learn english) yani-indonesiav

Sony VPL DX 100 is a native XGA projector [1024x768]
so if u connect to a PC that has higher resolution than XGA , it will not be able to project and will show u out of range .
you will need to reduce the screen resolution in your resolution settings to XGA and the problem will be solved.
On a Laptop however, the graphics card should automatically identify the native resolution of the projector and adjust the screen resolution that is being sent from the graphics adapter.
you can also repalce the VGA cable and check if the problem gets solved as a broken pin or cable internally can also result in a similar problem!

But im going to just go buy some thin foam type stuff and keep my old frame and glue or attach the new stuff to my old air filter frame and that should take care of it.

where it the RESET located? I do not have any on my VPL-EX7

If it blinks with 2 flashes, it's overheated. Check the filter unit.
If it blinks with 4 flashes, a fan is not working properly. see if any fan is not turning on, and check why.
If it blinks with 6 flashes, it's a system internal failure.

Try a different source ie a laptop and see what happens.This sounds like a source problem.

the projector needs a vga cable or composite connection to show the display from the laptop , it will not work with a usb lead

Hi,
Either lamp is dead/ broken in projector or lamp cover is not fixed properly (its located at bottom side)
Please check lamp and replace it if its broken and make sure lamp cover is fixed back on its location securely after lamp replacement/ checking.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, and a list of Dealers for spare parts, as required.

When you have purchased a replacement IC de solder the old one and fit the new one.

Just Google the part name and follow the links.

Hi,
After replacing lamp, connect projector AC power cord and turn the projector in standby mode.

Press following keys on control panel for less then 5 seconds each..
RESET, <==, ==>, ENTER.
That will reset lamp timer in projector.
