That tiller was made sometime between 7/1/78 and 1/1/79. This is the Horse II model and is a four speed one belt tiller. The Horse I was a two speed two belt tiller. These are very good tillers if they have been reasonably taken care of.

How do I adjust the carburetor on my 40+ TB horse tiller?

There is a floater in the carburetor which operates a needle gate to stop the overflow; take it apart and check if the needle is stuck or for some dirt.

75 horse power ercurywhat year of manufacture serial number 06255293

There is no data included in the serial number that gives info of what year the engine was made. You can, however look up the number here, and that will tell you the year of manufactor.

Hi! i have older troybilt rear tine tiller and would like tires and if possible a owners manuel the only serial # i could find is 464932. do you have access to older parts for equipment such as mine?...

http://www.mtdparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OperatorManualView?storeId=10101&catalogId=19502&langId=-1

Go to the above website and put in your model and serial number. If it is a Horse tiller just type in Horse and your serial number and you can download a copy of your operator manual. If it is the Horse model it was built between 1/1/80 and 7/1/80. i believe you have a Horse II four speed model that will just have one drive belt the older Horse I tillers were two speed with two belts.
Most any good tire shop can supply tires for your tiller or you can order them online and take then to a shop to mount for you. If your tires are not real bad they can just put tubes in them so they will hold air. Almost all parts are available through MTD who owns the Troy Bilt name now or through many sites online.

Good Luck,

Can i see the models from 1983 to 1985,i need a belt so i can use reverse again but i dont now my model or size. my husband died 3 years ago. if i could see some pictures from the 1980's mine has a potatoe...

Your question doesn't give enough detail to properly answer. Do you know if the tiller is a Horse model or a Pony model? Troy Bilt made both models back in the timeframe you noted. The Horse model had tires that required air to inflate. The Pony model likely had hard rubber tires in that era. The Horse models had a reverse disc, no belt. The Pony had a belt.

Once you know which model you have - look for your closest Troy Bilt dealer and see if they can track down the part for you. They might appreciate it if you could provide the serial number - which is located on the pipe connecting the tiller transmission front half to the back half, where the tines are located. It's stamped right into the metal tube on both models.
