There is actually a hidden third screw that need to be removed in the center of the hard drive bezel rubber screw cover. Without removing that 3rd screw, you will damage the bezel for good!

SOURCE: DriveLock HDD Bay Password

hello,

Will your NX6110 allow you to get into the Bios before the drive lock password coes up? If it doesnt and you dont know the password, you have two options. One being to send the laptop off somewhere to get the password an pay thru the nose. The other is just to buy another hard drive and re-load your system. Those passwords are build into the hard drives and there is really no way to get the password easily. You could of course pay for a machine that will hopefully get your password, but why pay all that money just to use it once, or twice. It comes down to the facts of how importand is the data on your hard drive?

My HP COMPAQ DX2390 Microtower PC running on W7 PRO stops at the HP LOGO and does not continue to start W7. When i press F10 for boot menu it loads forever. same to esc key for boot menu.

ok, this is very simple and basic but recovery is not.(can be impossible) we have no idea at all how the OS W7 got there, or the history of the HDD, (ever replaced) OS UPGrades? vista to 7? that LOGO is just BIOS. as is F10. so PC not dead BIOS not dead. but f11 is that dead? recovery? have your read thje manual yet, see HDD tests. that is first, no OS made runs on a dead HDD or one that is weak, smart tests failing is weak.l OS fails to boot, OS is dead, missing or corrupted or HDD is bad.that is the problem. are you backed up? that is Q1, every time to the ends of time. are you? if yes or no data personal there, or apps personal with licenses. then do the full blown HP F11 restore or try W7 startup repair, google that. if the HDD is good an never slammed. means HP recovery partition not gone or wrecked then F11 work power on , hammer F11. see? power on see if hdd test is in the BIOS my HP has that, I run that and if HDD fails, it does not lie, if that passes I run full demo linux media and run full HDD smart tests if those fail, new HDD time. there is no other way with HDD bad. HP sure does not sell media kits after 3 years, your is way way older. 10 years old it seems, even some with VISTA. read here. https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-compaq-dx2390-microtower-pc/3658390/manuals

Hp mini 110 powerwash doesnt finish and stays on that screen I cant do anything to change it.

which 110 is it, HP makes many models, 110-1000? we can not guess models here, the service tag has all numbers on it.
and the ABA# tells the 3rd level of models (called options)
so the screen is not dead.
so BIOS is not dead, right?
is the HDD full.
(as seen in explorer local)
question 2:
this PC came with windows, Linux or Citrix on it,
which does yours have.? day 1 new and NOW?
taking out the HDD, BIOS must work. does it?
but taking out the HDD kills the OS dead. and F12 features 100 % NORMAL THAT.
run HDD tests yet
HDD silent, is dead.
HDD that fails Smart tests, is no good.

How do you do a hard reset on a Compaq Presario cq50-130us I've tried the F11 thing and it didn't work

the word reset means zero,
my guess you want to reload windows not told from scratch>?
XP OS, is infected Im sure.
lost the install disk?
now F11 recover facts.
  1. HDD not bad, or F11 is dead for ever. and ever.
  2. HDD not upgraded or F11 image is gone for ever.
  3. OS not upgraded and the Image is there for XP but is useles
Most these PCs have bad batteries and HDD is bad.
most.
the cure is obvious. new COIN new HDD. new OS.
or test the hDD first, ask. the dead coin battery can not be ignored.
or get the PC repaired in a real shop.

@ start up of my HP nx9010 there is an immediate error ----- A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl Alt Del This is a...

This is not a password error, it is an error with your hard drive being read by the BIOS on the motherboard. This can occur if the interface between the hard drive and the motherboard is somehow disrupted, like a loose connection (check to make sure the HDD is peoperly seated in the interface). This might be an error with the master boot record on the HDD not allowing the HDD to boot. There might be damage to the drive itself in which the read/write heads have contacted the platters leaving the HDD disabled.

Try removing the HDD with all power off, and then re-install the drive. I've also seen this error crop up when the CMOS battery died. Try replacing the CMOS battery. The most likely cause is again HDD failure, the HDD doesn't always let you know if it is going to fail, the failure could be electronic and not mechanical.

Compaq nc 4000, after initial hp screen, screen

old dog compaq (no OS stated, XP?) even windows 2000(omg)
nc 4000, circa 2003 it will not ever run with no ram. ever.
1 stick at a time is the test in bank 0
first off its what. a note book.
take out the battery and leave it out , they like to short.
so what does the screen do?
you did not say its 100% dead all time
no text ever
no HP logo , no Compaq logs.
dead 100% and fan runs? vents not blocked, in lint
seem the HP logo is there, so that means BIOS is alive.
logo yes...
HP logo comes out of BIOS, not the OS.
so do the BIOS hot keys work , that is next.
OS running if vastly more complex.
your service manual states hit F10 for bios. (esc, and F2 per manual)
Omg 2, it has floppy drive, wow, not seen one in a decade.

amazing HP still supports this old dog, not sure why. over 10 years.
rule.
what next the boot is next
I boot to a CD that has linux live on it, see system work perfectly?
sure. if it does that means the OS on your HDD is bad or
the HDD is dead.
so what next if true.,
my guess is support ends 2018 (xp last +10 = 18) my calcs.
get the software and manuals now while the clock does not time out. hint, hint
so what next the service manual has flow chart.
so it says, if floppy boots then the HDD will not.
that you need to test the HDD but shows no ways to do that.
FDISK it shows, (sad that)
you need to run hdd tests. we use knoppix boot to do that
if that passes we reload your OS. from scratch.
i build this or keep one handy at all times. (mines on a USB stick)

I M USING WIN XP INSTALLATION CD BUT IT GIVES MESS THAT NO hdd POWERED ON

this is either the hdd failed for good..or it has something wrong plugged..or is just not seen cause it has some changes in bios...
just go to bios...restore to factory optimal defaults ...and try again ...be sure that you change the boot order after defaulting bios settings ..in such way to boot from cd first ...after that try again ...it may be a sata hdd and it is not seen cause it is not set right in bios..
if this not working ..remove the hdd and have it checked in another computer ...even a desktop if you find and adapter ..to see if it is still working ....

Ompaq cq50 blank screen

See if removing the disk produces a response: "No disk or non-system disk, replace and press any key" or something of this sort. That will rule out the hdd failure, alternatively you can try the hdd in an external USB casing to see if it works. Computers with broken/malfunctioning hdds very often hang, bit will come back to life if hdd is disconnected. If the hdd is fine, you most likely will have a memory or a motherboard problem. Removing/replacing or changing position of the memory may help, sometimes they have loose connectors (mind static, earth yourself before touching any of the components of your laptop).
