Seems to be a very common problem, This information from Sharp Tools should fix your problem. Let me know if you need any further help and I would be glad to do what I can. good luck

  • Hold down Select / Menu (to reboot the iPod)
  • As soon as the Apple logo appears, hold down Rewind / Select until...
  • ...you see a backwards Apple Logo.
  • At this point, you will have entered Diagnostic Mode. It'll test the RAM, and then tell you to HIT PLAY TO CONTINUE. Hit 'Play'.
  • You'll be in a menu that you advance by hitting FF (Fast Forward). Advance to the 'DISKMODE' entry.
  • Hit 'Select.' This will put you into Firewire Disk mode. The screen should change to the familiar 'Do Not Disconnect' mode. At this point, connect it to the computer.
  • Run the restore utility; it should now recognize the iPod and offer to Restore the factory software. Do so. You'll lose whatever's on it, but you'll avoid having to send it back in to Apple and pay them $49 or whatever to do basically the same thing.

    woops, sorry, misread that

This is a common problem too.

To perform a soft reset, press and hold the iPhone’s Sleep/Wake button
and the Home button for several seconds.

click on restore to original settings and see if it has the backup option there, if not, you can always reload information once it gets working and an apple store could probably get any information that you may loose.

Hi,

Did you try to reset the phone by pressing the power button and home key?

  • Anonymous May 20, 2008

    1. Do a hard reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake button + the home
button until it turns off then release before it turns back on.

    2. Plug the dock into the compute and have iTunes running.

    3. HOLD the home button on the iPhone, while holding it, connect the
iPhone onto the dock and CONTINUE to hold the home button until the
    CONNECT TO ITUNES DISPLAY APPEARS.

    4. iTunes will recognize this and ask if you would like to restore it.
Click restore. Then choose to restore from BACKUP! This will take a few
minutes. It will fix the problem. Your iPhone will be up and running as
normal and all your contacts, sms, bookmarks, settings, etc. will be
intact. The only thing that will be erased is the music. But you can
easily add that all back right.

My iphone 3Gs is not starting up and is stuck on apple logo. Please help

Do a hard reset.
  1. Press-hold the Home button (big circle below the screen) and the Sleep/Wake button (on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.
  2. Continue holding both buttons (Ignore the "Slide to power off") until the iPhone shuts off and begins to restart.
  3. You may let go when you see the silver Apple logo.
  4. You have completed a hard reset successfully.
  5. Don't be alarmed that it takes quite a while to load from the Apple logo to the main screen. This is normal.
If this does not work, put into recovery mode and restore from itunes.
Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.

Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

Step Three
As soon as the screen goes black release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

I hooked my iphone3G to the computer and it stay on the first apple screen and hasnt went any further...what can i do to fix it?

HI

Unplug the phone from the computer and power down then try holding the power button and the home button for around ten seconds the screen should show the apple logo and release the buttons then wait and see if the phone loads up to the home screen.....this can take while for the phone to register so dont push at the buttons etc just see if it changes. If not then follow the steps below to put your phone into recovery mode and restore it

Hope this helps

After a restore, the iPhone displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. Keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated." If iTunes does not have an Internet connection, you cannot complete this step.

  9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. Once your device is restored and-in the case of the iPhone-in the process of activating, you should be able to see the following in iTunes:
