Hey !
1 . Open the backside of the phone
2 . take off the battery
3 . wait approximatively 10 secondes
4 . back the battery inside & close the phone
5 . switch on the phone
Et voila.
I hope it helps, I have experienced the same and it works for me.
If it don't work try to clean (softly) the sim card and the parts under the battery with air.
bbye

Bucks, Your phonr needs firmware re-install. There does not seem to be any HW problem

I had a simliar problem with my k800i, it turned out that it needed its firmware/software updated. So u can either get it "flashed" at a shop (around £10) or you can try doing it at home but you'll need the software and the data cable for the phone. Google it i'm sure you'll find something. Good luck

You can try updating the firmware using a Windows XP computer, which will also reset the phone to factory defaults (and thus probably fixes your problem).
Download the Nokia Software Updater from: http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163
Connect your phone to the computer using an USB cable, run the program and just follow instructions. Please note that you'll lose anything stored in the phone's memory (but not the SIM contacts !).
Whenever you still have warranty, you could take it to a Nokia Care center and have them update/reset your phone ...
