I have just hooked up a garmin 4208 with a 76x antenna along with a transducer. I turned on the unit and its showing my location as Miami but im in the caribbean. I also have the caribbean and southamerica charts installed. Does this mean the unit is not picking up satelites?Or is this what happens until you have movement?

You will have to leave it on for a while to sync up with the satellites. Once it settles in it will always find your location quickly unless you leave it off for a long period or move it a long distance since you turned it off.

No. This unit is not designed for marine use, and therefore is not designed to accept marine charts.

SOURCE: GARMIN c550 will not turn on

There is an ISSUE with the DEAD ZUMO, however some of the are solved, and some need to be shipped back.
There are a couple of options.
1) remove the battery, keep power button pressed for a few minutes. install battery, try.
2) fully recharge the battery with the wall charger, try
3) With a fully charged battery, press and hold the + button and press the power button(hard reset).
4) hold thumb firmly on top left of touch screen and hold power button till it switches on(hard reset).
5) Try a different battery (fully charged)
6) Ship it to Garmin

I bought my grandfather a Garmin echomap 44 DV. Recently the transducer was stolen is it possible to still use it without the transducer

I believe it will work without the transducer. This is based upon my locating reports of other Garmin models working without the transducer such as the Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 74sv. Garmin support would likely respond to such an inquiry.

Garmin 551s sonar stopped working, no bottom definition or ability to see fish GPS charts and speed all work It shows 3 step image repeats top of the screen / water surface has the transducer packed

Check you transducer cable route and connections. Look for kinks, punctures, & tears in cable. Visually check the transducer for damage. #2 check the units operation on a friends boat with the same set or research a local marine repair shop to check ops. Best of luck on the problem.

You either have a faulty head unit, bad connection between the transducer and head unit, or a faulty transducer or transduced cable.

I have a Garmin 182c with a garmin GSD20 sounder unit ,if my transducer wire is cut or nicked would it cause the unit to unit to read " sonar turned off" ?

If you nicked it good enough yes it can. If the receiver doesn't detect the transducer, a digital message on the display will indicate this.

Does it show you were you are? and does it show me were im going? and if so why isint it working for me????

Hello,

Yes it will show you where you are and where your going, the whole point of gps is knowing location, if your unit is having troubles the antenna may be dead or you could be getting poor reception. Try giving the unit a firmware update using Garmins WebUpdater, this may help.

Hope this helps!

Turning on my Lowrance LCX 111HD fish locator creates static with my ICOM M502 VHF Marine radio.

Hello LJones0455. From your detailed attempts there are few options. Position the transducers one foward one aft. Connect the negitives of the battiers to the boat still route both positive & negitive wiring to all devices. Check the continunity of your transducers include flexing while ohming. Let me know of the results.

Garmen 240 fishfinder

A test bucket wont work, A 200 khz transducer will generally not work in anything less than 2' of water, due to surface clutter. If the transducer is working, you should hear it make a ticking sound.

When you got the 17000 foot reading was your range set to auto?

How is the transducer situated on the boat? Sometimes turbulence and bubbles from the hull can cause erroneous readings, including unrealistic depths, or no depth at all. Stop the boat and turn off the engin e and anything electrical to see if problem repeats itself. If it only crops up when the boat is moving then it is most likely the transducer location.
