Can you try to plug in to another PC and to another Mac find out if this will work and if not the jumpdrive is defective. I hope this info may help you solve the problem.

This is probably a simple fix. There is not much to floor lamps. It is usually a bad switch. I would go to www.google.com and type in electrical contractors your city and state. Any electrician should be able to fix it rather easily. It will be cheaper if you take it to them. If you would like to repair it yourself, I can give you a way to test and fix yourself.
