The CD player for my factory Bose stereo system suddenly does not work anymore. Every disc that I put in it gives me an "ERR" message. It happened two days ago while I was playing a brand new CD. I got a call and turned of the system. When I turned it back on, it didn't play. I took the CD out and put it back in and got the error message. Its not the humidity and its not the heat that's the problem. Can someone help me? The radio works perfectly.

if you have waranty on the vehicle take it to the dealer if not ther is probably something mangled inside some companies fix these radios fairly cheap compared to new radio prices (shortcircuit in california)

there are only couple options. pull radio and send to shop for repair, purchase used radio from good junk yard. or call dealer and see if there is a warranty on it. even though its 6 yrs old they may help. what they do at the dealer is an exchange

i had multiple problems with my stereo in my terrano just recently. first started with the digital trip meter going out and no audio, that was to do with the earth cable which came from te car. on mine it was a pink and silver cable, maybe it was done wrong from who ever wired it in first but it didnt like it so i went straight from the head unit to the chassis... secondly it could be the amp control cable. it may be loose or something. and thirdly a problem my friend encountered with his stereo was that the unit would turn on but no audio and after sctatching at our heads for a while we thought we'd go through from behind the head unit and remove each speaker when we took one out of the equation we got audio and it was because the speaker was shorting against the car body which would prevent any other speaker from working. hope these help. as for the dimming im not quite to sure maybe get a multi metre onto the power and see if its reading 12v.

On my 2002 xterra 6 Disk player.
It locked up on me.

I was able to fix it with key in the off position. I pulled the Radio fuse and put in back in.
The fuses are located under the hood on the left side right behind the battery.

Then I turned on the key and the radio. The CD began working just fine.

CD ERR It only plays Factory Pressed CD's and not Burned CD's so try a factory pressed CD and it should play.
