Are you saying that when you set it to bake the oven doesn't heat or are you talking about the top burners?if it's the oven you have a bad ignitor, the oven flame should lite in under 40 seconds to a minute,if it doesn't it's the ignitor, part number 12400035 and it's around 80 bucks.unplug it or kill the braker, take out the racks, remove the bottom panel or oven floor, take off the wing nut and remove the metal cover and you'll see the burner tube and the ignitor,,with a wet paper towel wet the screw threds on the two screws with water so they don't strip out and then remove the two screws holding the ignitor on,trust me it works.if you have to, unplug the ignitor or if it's not the original ignitor cut the two wires at the end of the old ignitor and connect the new ignitor with the ceramic wire caps and remove the burner tube if it's hard to get at the ignitor screws.put it back together and the ignitor should lite the flame in less than a minute.let me know how you make out

Bad ignitor? I have a Maytag oven CRG9800BAE displaying F7. No oven heat. Stovetop burners work fine. Got the code cleared, clock is working fine. Is this a bad ignitor? If so, could you confirm the...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If you have a electric oven or a gas oven that won't heat or doesn't heat properly, here are some things you will need to check. The most likely cause of a oven not heating correctly is a defetive heating element. You have two types of heating elements in your oven. The bottom element(s) are the baking elements. The element(s) on the top are the broil elements. If you don't see the bright red glow from the element, chances are they are not working or not working correctly. If a heating element is bad, you need to replace the entire element. If your oven is warm and not correctly hot, one of the elements may be bad. In most ovens, when you preheat, both elements are used. This would make the oven to appear like it is working correctly but it is not. If the elements are not working, they might not be getting power. Test the wires to the elements with a voltage meter to make sure they are getting power before you decide to change them out. Many electrical ovens have a sensor that monitors the oven temperture. Ovens that have this sensor usually contain a digital display on the oven. The sensor could be defective. Those without the sensor use the basic mechanical system to control the oven temperature. You also want to check the thermostat sensing bulb. Make sure the bulb is good and has not come loose. Now, if you have a gas range oven that doesn't heat properly, first, you want to check your bake igniter. It may have burned out or it could be not working properly. It will be located near your burner. It is also possible that you are not getting gas to the burner. If so, it may be the gas safety valve or the igniter. You need to check your selector switch and thermostat as well. They may be defective. Always make sure you test the parts for power with a voltage meter of some type before you decide to change the part. If you have a part that appears to not be working, it may not be getting power because of a bad wire or broken connection.

My maytag oven CRG 300 gas oven will nit light when wanting to use the oven. the top works well. i have pilotless ignition. wht will it not light. I hear the ignition and hear gas.

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

I smell gas when I turn on my oven. I replaced the gas line but have the same result.

Your Maytag wall oven is equipped with
pilotless ignition. Heat from the Glow Bar
ignitor lights the oven burner. With this type of
ignition system, the oven will not operate
during a power failure or if the wall oven is
disconnected from the wall outlet.

if it is plugged in and everything, your glow bar may be broken, which would mean you will either need to replace it, or get professional service.

Gas oven plows circuit brake when oven turned on model mgr5765qdw

Short in the wiring to the oven igniter or bad igniter system. Some kind of short causes the breaker to trip. Extremely rare to have a bad breaker.

Wall oven will not bake

In many cases, even if the igniter is glowing, the resistance may not be low enough to turn on the gas valve. The igniter has probably gone bad. ($50.00 to $90.00 for igniter)
