I'm not familiar with Kenmore but it sounds like a faulty heater element. The flashing 'clean' light normally means a water flow problem (blocked pump etc) but since it's washing that isn't the problem. After washing they dry with steam, which needs a heater.
It may be a problem with the board, as your engineer thought, but i would sooner replace the heater, but they are not easy to reach.
A suds sensor may be present, should be a plastic grille or hole in the side or back wall halfway up, this you can flush with a garden hose, messy but it usually works!

Check your water spray bars. I'll bet they are plugged with calcium or something.

you mean dish sink soap lol just keep running it till its gone with out dishes may take three cycles not the first time ive seen this leave the door closed and get a mop sorry my mother in law did the same thing
SOURCE: Status Lights Blinking
status lights blinking is trying to tell you something in the dishwasher is bad,go to your owners manual to see the fault codes first, then you can try turning the breaker off 30 seconds an on to see if it resets its self,if that does not work i think you might have a bad mother board,thanks-mike

Most
cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash
water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is
usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower
access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house,
a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.
When
a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually
referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective,
you need to completely replace it.

HELP
Hi
If clean light is blinking then it may be an
issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to
the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error.
If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing
this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air
Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub,
energy saver dry or High Temp Wash-Heated Dry-High Temp Wash-Heated Dry .
Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button
and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an
issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or
due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open
circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater
using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use
multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure
is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post
back if you need more information.

Hi,
Check your heating element..
A bad heating element causes many problems in dishwashers...

The clean light should be blinking 7 times, pause, then repaeat if it is doing this -- it is a water heating fault. Use one of the following key dances to clear fault
a) Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal
b)High Temp-Air Dry-High Temp-Air Dry
All the Leds should light up now just press cancel and Unit should operate. If it shuts down again the heater isnt working properly. Some times the door doesnt get shut well and that causes the fault. But the dishes arent very clean if the heater is not working.

Your dishwasher is having a heater problem. Reset the control (instructions should be in your owner manual or you can find them on line). If that doesn't work, check the element. If the element is good replace the electronic control.
