It will cost more then the cost of a new TV to replace that LCD panel. 55" panel would probably be in the $700-$800 range. Walmart has new 55" LCD's in the $700 range. The TV is not junk, it has some value. Throw it on Ebay or Craigslist as a parts unit. I assure you someone will buy it. I'd ask for at least $100
in general cracked lcd panels cost more than the tv is worth.. depending on model panel replacment run 1500 to 2000.. and physical damage is not a warrenty item. do you have a toshiba or a rca the decription says you have rca r52wm24 which is not a lcd. that is a tube tv. and if it is cracked that definatly can be fix or replaced cost effective.
No,not practical LCD Screen or DLP CRT Screen replacement it cost the same as a new tv even cost more after labors.Sorry now only can use as salvage electronics boards parts only.
this is a crt type tv- no lamps just crt's if it was moved recently then a seal could have been damaged on the crt cuasing coolant to leak down the neck getting into the socket. this will cause trouble for sure also could have a crack in the crt. look for a sticky liquid in the bottom of the unit.
sometime the crt's can ark and rip out a video output chip on the crt socket check it out.
not common but not unheard of.cheers
A frosted sheet of plexiglas works well. I put a plexiglass screen on my own 62 inch projection TV. It must be frosted to received the image being projected.
if your tv has black borderaround screen protector it has to be replaced with original part..if not it can be replaced with plexi-glass, avail at local home improvment stores
