I have solved it MY WAY!.. Since when it is ONLY the three of us living at home now... I pulled the junk Dishwahser out, and installed more cabinets. I personally wash the dishes (and cook. Wife does cleaning and laundery). The dishes are WAY cleaner and look great! Also, your good sharp knives should NEVER be washed in a dishwasher!!. Plus, the stove is staying cleaner, wipe it off everyday after doing the dishes. Before it was once in a while when I had pans to wash. WE DO NOT MISS THE DISHWASHER!!!.I have solved it MY WAY!.. Wish I could solve this, as I'm having the same problem too. Normal light blinks not matter which wash button is pressed. Cancel light will light, but still NOTHING happens. Same model as yours.

How many times does it blink before pausing and repeating? 7 times? (That's a common problem - means "water not heating" error.) In some dishwashers, instead of pressing Heated Dry, Normal Wash, Heated Dry, Normal wash, you press the 3 left-most keys in the following order: 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3. That will start the diagnostic cycle and clear the error, but if you don't find and fix the cause, the problem will come back the next time you run the DW. But before I try to explain how to fix the root cause, I would need to know how many times the light is blinking.
call sears, 1-800-4MY-HOME. They have a trouble-shooting department that will get rid of this problem. It is caused by water temperature being wrong at the start of the cycle.... blah, blah, blah. The representative will tell you to push a certain set of buttons in a certain order and that unlocks the dishwasher.
I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.
HI,
Same thing happened to me today and Sears more than willing to charge me 200.00 for a 1 year service agreement.
I found the answer on askmehelpdesk.com and the answer is:
To reset a Kenmore Ultra Wash elite series dishwasher (stuck on clean) simply push heated/dry then normal wash and do the same thing again. Panel will reset itself and it hopefully will run normally again. Mine did and I am rejoicing!

Puppa, clear the fault by pressing the keys in this order: high temp scrb--air dry--high temp scrub--air dry. Or, depending on your model..Sani rinse--air dry--sani rinse--air dry. The dishwasher will enter the service mode. Let it do it's thing or advance it through it by pressing the start key. The fault came from the board not sensing a rise in the water temp. Make sure to run the hot water before starting the dishwasher. The heating element runs through the nuetral side of the door switch so make sure the d/w is level and the door switches are all making. The element itself could be at fault. Catriver...post back
