My 95 escort gets stuck in fifth gear. Sometimes will come out sometimes wont. Have to stop the car, turn engine off and then pull out of fifth.

Low transmission fluid will cause this.

Check the shifter linkage to make sure nothing has slipped.

normally your engine should not cause your car to wobble, however a misfire can cause this to happen, as far as your throttle cable, you need to replace it and check the transmission kick down cable (co located with throttle cable) replace if necessary. The jerking when shifting is probably due to incorrectly adjusted kick down cable, when adjusted correctly the transmission with shift smooth. Hope this helps, let me know

it maybe a pluged tranny line did you get it flushed?? a little metal shavings might have made there way up there and caused a block so get that checked

make sure the plantum gasket up underneath the throttle body is good and make sure all vacuum lines are connected especially the vacuum line behind the throttle body

THE SPEEDO PLAYS A BIG PART IN HOW YOUR TRANSMISSON SHIFTS GEARS FIX SPEEDO FIRST AND THE TRANS WILL SHIFT PROPLEY AGAIN CHECK FUSES

Sounds to me like clutch is not freeing up if you turn off motor & it goes straight into gear. Did you replace all clutch parts plate pressure plate & realease bearing its almost like there is not enough travel on master cyl or slave cyl if clutch is OK
