No, just set properly. This watch is very difficult to set. A watchmaker may be able to help you. The instructions are not very clear. You might try a watchmaker for assistance or try calling them although I have not had much luck along those lines.
If you have an atomic clock/watch that is not showing the right time, you could have one or two separate problems. First, the clock may not be set for the correct time zone. Second, the clock may have a manual switch to adjust the time for daylight savings time. Each of these problems can make your clock display the incorrect hour of the time, especially after you change the batteries and your clock "forgets" some or all of its prior settings.
Check the back of your clock to see if there is a button or switch to set the correct time zone. If your clock appears to be set to your time zone, change the switch to another time zone and see whether the clock moves forward/backward to adjust. Once it has finished adjusting to the new time zone, adjust the clock back to your time zone to see whether it will now correctly reset to display the time.
I have seen atomic clocks that have manual adjustments for these settings as well as ones that adjust automatically other than the time zone. If you provide the manufacturer and model number of your clock, we should be able to provide more detailed instructions.

Change your Citizen watch's time zone without actually moving the clock hands. On the digital display, change the city that displays on the watch, which sets the time to the different time zone. The Citizen also has a calendar, timer, chronograph and LED lights. Since it is an Eco Drive watch, it is solar powered so you never have to replace the batteries unless its backup power source dies. Instructions
Pull the setting knob (crown) out one "tick" for setting mode.
Set the mode hand to "WT-S."
Pull the crown out one more "tick."
Press the top button on the right side of the watch for the city setting mode.
Press the lower button on the right side to "SET" the city.
Turn the crown to select a different city, which changes the time zone.
Push the crown all the way back in to finish setting the time.
It sounds like your watch is on daylight saving time (DST) or it is set to the wrong time zone.
If you press the "Mode" button you will enter the settings menu and you should be able to change this by pressing one of the other buttons. Some experimenting will be needed.
TIME ZONE SETTING
The cefault time zone is PACIFIC. lf your location is not in the Pacific zone, set the
time zone as follows:
1. In normal time mode, press the "[,4ODE" key to enter the alarm time mode. 2. ln aiarm time mode, press and hold the ADJ . 'Cl"F" key for 2 seconds to enter
the time zone setting mode.
3. Press ihe "ADJ "C/'F" key to select the proper time zone: P=Pacific
M=Mountain C=Central E=Eastern 4. Press the f,'lODE key to save and exit the time zone setting mode, or let it exit
automaiically 30 seconds later without pressing any key.
When changing time zones, your watch must be manually set for the new time zone you will be entering. This watch is not designed to adjust for new time zones automatically. Instructions for changing time zones can be changed using the directions found on pages 2-4 in your instruction manual. When changing to and from DST, your watch should automatically adjust for this difference with the next 24 hours after the change. If your watch has not adjusted, you may be in an area that is not receiving signal. Check if your watch has received signal by using the directions found on page 1 of your instruction manual. If your watch has received signal in the past and no longer is receiving signal, your watch may need to be serviced or exchanged. It appears that the watch was malfunctioning which I thought was due to a change of battery being required.
(It was running slow and giving the wrong time - so my mother told me)
I subsequently found instructions for the watch on an internet site, changed the battery and the watch is still failing to set to the U.K. time zone therefore, I deduce that it is a failure in the watch rather than the need for a new battery or ranything I have or have not done.
This watch automatically sets itself. I you live in the eastern time zone, you just have to wait for the watch to receive the signal then it will set itself to the correct time & date. The signal is strongest at night between the hours of 10:00 pm & 2:00 am so it normally takes over night to set. Sometimes the weather interferes with the signal so I tell people to give them a couple of days to pick up. Also if you are having trouble receiving the signal try placing the watch by a window. If you do not live in the eastern time zone try these instructions:
Hold down the button for 2 seconds until the time zone abbreviation & zone flash the keep pressing the button until your correct time zone is displayed. Then wait about 8 seconds for the watch to return to normal display. Then you just have to wait until it picks up the signal & sets itself. I hope this helps.
