Go to control panel, and check device manager to see if you have any problems. If not, click on Hardware and Sound, then on Sound, and see if somehow your laptop speakers have been turned off. Reconfigure them anyway, and test the sound there. If that doesn't fix it, go to IBM and reinstall Realtec. Sometimes it gets corrupted, and sometimes it takes more than one installation to get it fixed. Let me know if you have any problems.

Multimedia Audio Driver and network driver

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

DESPITE PROPER INSTALLATION OF SOUND CARD SOUND IS NOT COMING

When you download and run the sound file, it expands the file and copies it to your hard drive, take a note which folder it has created (usually C:\Driver\) Then open the audio folder and run the Setup program to install the audio driver.

Can not hear sound

The thinkpads have a sound key on the keyboard. usually operated by holding down the FN key and pressing the key with the (think its blue) speaker symbol on it. Make sure this is on and the volume is turned up.

Also check that the volume under the Sound option in control panel is on.

If these are suggest obtaining latest sound drivers from IBM web site and reinstalling them.
