Hey, I am having the same issue. After a few hours, time stops but if i pull out the crown and push back in, I'm back in business, but after a few hours same thing. Make since the stop watch is on and i am having the worst time figuring out how to turn it off. The chronograph instructions for the Deco are not easy to understand.

My watch only works half the time it will go and then all of a sudden stop. and if I tap it it starts going again

Watches are little machines, they do require maintenance at some stage. You haven't said what type of watch, quartz, mechanical, digital?

How old is it?

The oils inside watches are really good, but will still go off over a 7-8 year period. I'd say you may need a clean?

Of course, if it is a fairly new battery operated watch your problem may be as simple as a loose negative contact breaking contact with the circuit board.

Best to whip it into your local watch shop for a look.

Self winding does not work

Could be its just not a good quality watch, you didn't state the make. if its an invicta, then tbh, its to be expected they can be very hit and miss. You can buy demagnetizer for about $10, £6-7. Things like speakers, computer monitors or strong electrical field can magnetize a watch making them perform very inconsistently.

Hold in the MODE button until the alarm time appears.

VERY IMPORTANT - Tap the MODE button again, and the time should appear with the seconds flashing.

Use StART/Stop to choose among seconds, hours, and minutes, and

Use ADJUST to increase the selected number

Press MODE to put the thing back in regular operational mode

Timex 1440 sports WR50M

Solution #2 by Guest, posted on May 13, 2008 solved my problem. OUTSTANDING solution #2!

1. Hold in the MODE button until the alarm time appears.

2. VERY IMPORTANT - release and TAP the MODE button AGAIN, and the time should appear with the seconds flashing.

3. Use StART/Stop to choose among seconds, hours, and minutes, and

4. Use ADJUST to increase the selected number

5. Press MODE to put the thing back in regular operational mode.

After several attempts with other directions over the last four months, these 5 steps WORKED.
