IBM Think Pad screen is out. Turned black can't see any images. Can't find a Model number such as T42 or anything like that. What to do?

try to do this:

- remove the battery and charger (everything connected to the pc) then press the power button for 1 minute..
- plug back in the charger
- after few secs try to turn it on

hope this helps :D

you may check also the sticker on the back of the laptop where in you can see the SN or S/N and also the Model number

Monitor keeps turning off

Please go to control panel, power options and look for change advance settings. There will be a pop up window. scroll it down and look for display and set it to never. Click on apply and ok then restart your computer. Monitor if it will work.

I want to use a NEC Multisync 1700V monitor as an external display for my Thinkpad T400. However I get no image when I hook up the laptop and change the display scheme to display on my laptop screen +...

The only I can think of is the resolution setting that your T400 is putting out that your NEC does not like andcannot display, look at the T42 resolution when the NEC is hooked up to it and try to set it to be the same in the T400.

My Sisterin law has a dell laptop. The monitor is black, not starting up or anything. How do we fix this?

Well frankly i dont think there is any thing YOU can do that will fix it except take it to a repairer.
But first i would try another monitor on the laptop itself ( monitor plug usually on rear) to eliminate the fact that it could be the whole unit that is at fault rather than the monitor section. If the unit turns on but has no display it could be the video card.If nothing turns on and its connected to the AC power then the problem is greater than just a video card.

My think pad t42 does not charge or work with electricity the battery is good and the charger but when i plug it to the power it dont charge the battery it don't work with electric pewer

if you are saying that the battery and the adapter can be use on another machine, just plug it in again on the machine and turn it on,if you can see the indicator but no display or the indicator also no light, means your system board is dead.change the system board, nothing else can you do dude.

Second monitor

I beleive that you may need a splitter, I think it may be called a convergance splitter to work with the program. Check with the manufacturer support for the program. They should be able to tell you if a splitter is needed.
