In general, a 1950s Sweet Sixteen is a valuable gun. Measure the distance from the trigger to the end of the **** stock to get the "legnth of pull" (LOP). this was 14 1/14 " when it left the factory. If it is shorter, the value will be less.

Without seeing it, although many have been altered which would bring a price $350 - $450 area.

This guide might help if you can determine the condition : OS is 1958.
AUTO-5 SWEET 16
- 16 ga., 2 9/16 in. chamber from 1937-1940, and 2 3/4 in. chamber from 1947-1975, similar configuration to Lightweight, 12 and 20 ga., gold plated trigger, 10 oz. lighter than Standardweight Model 16 ga., 1937-1940 mfg. Sweet Sixteens were available in pre-war Grades I, III, and IV. Mfg. 1937-1975 by F.N.

Grading ...............98% ....95% ....90% ........80% ........70%
Plain Barrel .......$950 ...$825 .......$725...... $625 .......$500
Solid Matte Rib $1,300 .$1,075 ....$950 .......$825 .......$700
Vent. Rib .........$2,100 .$1,650 .....$1,225 ...$1,050 ....$875

Subtract 20% for front safety.
Subtract 20% for 2 9/16 in. chamber.

Old Remington 12 Ga. Auto Loader on Browning Frame. Serial No. 238817. Year Made.

are you talking about the old Model 11 which is a copy of Browning A-5? more details would help. But it probably has a solid rib (amazingly, those were machined in one piece with the barrel, not soldered on). Many have had barrel problems. Look closely at yours, especially for pitting in the bore and bulging at muzzle.
The model 11 remington shotgun was produced from 1905-1949 when it was changed to the 11-48 dating your shotgun to exact year MAY be possible if theres a date code on the barrel left side ,,this would proably be a 2 letter code.. and should be near the point where the barrel meets the receiver. Without it it's anybody's guess.

condition means the most for values but you can pickem up for a average between 200-350. for insurance purposes 400 if in good working order.
Model 11?

What is the value of a browning 16 gauge shotgun serial number x2922

Did not find any S# beginning with 'X'. Did find this and the link is below. Seems to indicate your 16ga was made between 1903 and 1939. Interesting reading.

*Identify pre-WWII Sweet 16s: As stated in the introduction, pre-WWII Sweet 16's did not have engraved serial numbers. Instead, they were simply numbered. Guns engraved with the "Serial Number" of 1 to 228,000 were made from 1903 through 1939. Since the Sweet 16 was introduced to the public in 1937, you'll only be able to guess that your gun was manufactured in 1937, 1938 or 1939.

Trying to find year and manufacturer of a single shot 410 breakover shotgun. Serial number L5972 has serated area by notched site.

iver johnson single barrel champion shotguns with a single letter suffix to the serial number were manufactured between 1920 and 1929. it seem that most of the 410 were used quite a bit and very few are in excellent condition. the original finish was an oil finished stock, browned barrel and case hardened frame.

CHAMPION MODEL 36--------------------------------1909-1922
Single barrel; rebounding center mounted hammer; top lever operated break open design; gauges: 12, 16, and 20; barrel length: 28, 30, and 32 inches (features barrel and lug forged in one piece) bored full chock only; American black Walnut but* stock and fore-end; automatic extractors; weight 6¾ pounds; overall length with 30 inch barrel 45 inches; case hardened receiver (nickel available as option), browned barrel; automatic ejectors extra cost option; .410 bore, 24 and 28 gauges offered in 1913; 24 gauge dropped 1928; all gauges except 12 dropped after 1941; name changed to Champion single Barrel in 1917.
CHAMPION SINGLE BARREL---------------------------1923-1978
This is the same gun as the earlier Model 36 champion except that the smaller gauges are now built on the same frame as the large gagues. See above picture for specifications. The exact year production stopped has not yet been determined. Some of these single barrel shotguns have been seen with Canadian marking, these were most likely shipped to Canada and then marked as there is no evidence that Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works ever had a manufacturing factory in Canada

Can u tell me how to find or figure out the age of my Sweet 16. It was left for me when my dad died and he bought it new before I was born and I am 48 born in 1962. The serial number on my Browning Sweet...

S - 19258-August.
Year is 1925 confirm.
If you want to be more specific and want to know more details. on the month you can call.
You can call Remington at 1-800-243-9700 and go thru the menu selection. One of the menu options is to request information on your Remington based off the serial number. You read off your serial number and the guy looks up in the database the year the gun was made and what the original barrel was for that gun (if gun had barrel options like shotguns do).

post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Can you tell the age of a shotgun by the serial no.

Some shotguns don't even have serial numbers, Make and model will tell more than a serial number unless it is a very rare piece. Is it an old Belgian Browning auto 5?? Something like that , you can tell.
