My Motorola MD681 cordless phone handset is not getting charge (the battery is new) and is not able to find the base even I put the base ID in. Also there is a key sign on the screen of the handset which I do not know the meaning.

Thanks for the previous answer, but I do not think the connection has problem, meanwhile, the handset is not able to find the base even after I put in the identification ID, also a key sign on the upper left corner of handset screen confuses me, I wonder if there is any handset setting problem over there which causes the whole problem

good job, I will take a try

  • Anonymous Jun 03, 2010

I tried to restart both the base and the handset, but did not work, also I do not know how to input a reset code as you mentioned. The basic problem is that the handset is not able to find the base, it keeps showing a "search the base" on the screen. Meanwhile, the key sign on the upper left corner of the screen never gone away.

You should be able to see the date on your handset screen instead of the key sign. Have you tried restarting both the base unit and the handset already?
You could also try and re-register your handset.
1. Remove handset from the base station. 2. Go to the menu specifically on the base settings. You should be able to see the ringer volume etc options on the LCD screen. 3. Enter the reset code: **335782 4. The phone will reboot and wait for it to finish the process. 5. Register your handset.
1 Ensure the base station is off. Press v if necessary.
2 Press MENU (a) on the base station.
3 Scroll (a) to DISPLAY BASE-ID, then press OK (a). The base station displays the 15-digit base ID code.

4 Press NEW (a) on the handset. The ENTER BASE ID screen displays.
5 Using the keys on the handset, enter the 15-digit base ID code, then press OK (a). If you make a mistake while entering the code, press the left soft key (<) to clear it.
Important: The base ID code may contain numbers and characters such as #. Make sure to enter all 15 numbers and characters.
If ENTER BASE ID displays, 1 or more characters were entered incorrectly. Re- enter the base ID code.

Ok there is two possible places that could be fault, The AC/adpator where plugs into wall, The contacts on the battery or the phone, or the circuit board inside the handset.

There is not any other thing i can think of. I would be blaming the headset first.

You can check this with a voltage meter take the neg- and pos+ poles and see if its getting pass threw current if it is replace the headset.

Thanks and please do click the accept button for my efforts.

Do the black & red wire underneath the speaker phone be connected & wher to

If you are talking about the compartment on the right side of the base of a Motorola M681, then you do not have to connect anything. You can add an optional battery (the same battery pack as for the handset) to keep the phone working for a few hours during a power failure. (If the wires have been pulled loose, than the backup battery might not work. However, I'm not familiar with the wiring for this model.) The handset battery must be properly inserted and charged for that to work.

You also must plug in the AC power cord (to the phone and a good outlet) and the telephone line cord.

I hope this helps.

I put new batteries in my At&T cordless phones and I am getting a message on phone screen T23 PD

To register a handset to your telephone base
Make sure the handset battery is installed and charged properly. You have to enter a 15-digit telephone base ID to register the handset to the telephone base.

To find the telephone base ID and register the handset:

1. On the telephone base, press the MENU softkey when in idle mode to enter the feature menu. Press the or softkey to scroll to the DISPLAY BASE-ID menu, then press the OK softkey. The telephone base ID will be displayed.

2. On the handset, use the keypad buttons to enter the telephone base ID and press the OK softkey.
Press the softkey to move the cursor.

3. The handset will first display PLEASE WAIT!!, then T23 PD followed by SEARCHING FOR BASE. The screen will finally display HANDSET X when the registration is successful.
NOTES:

1. If the registration is not successful, the display will show NO BASE SUBSCRIPTION. Try the registration process again.

2. If an incorrect base ID is entered, the base ID will disappear and ENTER BASE ID will be displayed.

Wait for the phone to restart itself (about 5 seconds).

Handset has message Out of Range even though it is fully charged on on the handset.

The handsets are reading out of range because they have lost connection with the base. This happens mostly during peak power demands or power outages, but can also happen when the phone is unplugged for any amount of time. This can also cause, at times, the answering machine to stop picking up calls. To remedy this issue, reset the phone system. Please follow the instructions below:
To reset the phone:
1. Disconnect the power adapter, phone line, and remove all batteries from the base and all handsets. Leave it disconnected for 30 seconds to reset the base.
2. Place the batteries in the handsets first and then plug in the power adapter and phone line. Do not place the batteries back in the base yet.
3. Put the handset in the charge cradle.
4. It may take up to 1 minute for the "Out of Range" to clear from the display.
5. Once the "Out of Range" is cleared from the handset place the back up batteries back into the base.

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

My handset won't charge

Try charging it in a different cradle if you have more than one handset.  This has happened to me where a particular base will not charge a particular phone.  Once charged elsewhere the problem resolved.
