Here is what I have found. You cannot let windows automatically install. You must answer no to automatically install and do it manually. So try downloading this link and unzipping it where you can find it. And then point the install window to this .inf file.
a somewhat official answer is all your problem is lack of androidusb.sys, which located in
windows\system32\drivers\, it was deleted or replaced by installing some
other android related usb client drivers, however, when you install it
manually by pointing it to the android_winusb.inf, it do copy the .sys
file into system32\drivers\ again, so when come across with this
problem, remove target client device keys (with the VID/PID) in registry
in currencontrolset/usb/enum, then better restart windows , and run
.exe file to install driver or install it manually, and if you can get
the right androidusb.sys from your driver directry (for example
c:\progrm files\htc...), you can just copy it into system32\drivers\ but complicated.
