Windows 7 doesn't see network card after sleep

I upgraded a Dell Vostro from XP home to Windows 7. The ethernet card works fine until the computer goes into any power save mode. When the computer wakes, the OS does not see the card and you must physically unplug and re-plug the network cable. Sometimes even that doesn't work. I have downloaded the most recent driver from Intel but no luck. Can anyone help?

Can I clone a Windows XP hard drive from another computer and expect it to run on the Vostro 1000?

You can in a way, but you will need to download a lot of XP drivers from Dell to run XP on a Windows7 computer.
You can not just swipe out Windows7 for XP.
For better answers about this go to http://www.dslreports.com/forum/microsoft they will walk you through this.

Dell Vostro 200 will not connect to internet, what can I do?

check that the lan connection isn't disabled.
go into control panel>network connections.
I would disable it and then re-enable it, that sometimes works. if there is no lan connection showing then you need to download it onto a usb stick from the dell website and install it on the vostro. Product Support Dell US

Ethernet driver for windows 7

There does not seem to be a valid Windows 7 network driver:
http://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/dimension-3100.html#Network

You can try the driver for XP to see if that will work, otherwise you may need to buy a new NIC card.

In order to configure TCP/IP,you must install and enable a network adapter card, Windows 7, Vostro Dell A840

Not much to go on with your question. Windows 7 does not see your network adapter(s). Did you just upgrade? If so, you might need to go back to Dell website and download the Win7 drivers for you laptop. On that laptop you should see 3 network interfaces for WiFi, Ethernet, and the modem, and possibly a 4th for bluetooth. Dell is pretty good with downloads - just type in your service code at their support site, and they will only show you what you might need for your computer.

Hi
Win 7 is extremely touchy about network drivers. I didn't see your computer model listed but you'll need to log onto your computer manufacturers support page and download the Win 7 drivers for the network. Since your internet connection doesn't work right now I'd suggest another machine, if you have one or go to your local library with a Flash Drive and download the drivers to that. Good Luck

Intel 82562V-2 10/100 ethernet adapter does not turn back on from vista sleep mode

I have the same network card.
Never had this problem with Vista (32 bit) but recently switched to Win7 (64 bit) and had the same problem as you.
I solved by going under Control Panel->hardware->network card properties->power save and unchecking "Allow pc to switch off the device to save power"
