If the rinse cap fix does not work,I have done something else to remedy the problem. What I found is that it is cavitation in the pump due to lack of water. What I did is very simple.First take the covers off at the bottom of the diswasher.Next pull off the float pin switch. It is located at the right-front on the bottom.Take two pair of pliers and just bend the metal trigger down a bit on the pin switch. This will allow more water to enter the washer on fill up eliminating the problem.Saves a service charge too!
I had the same problem with my Maytag Quiet Series 1 dishwasher until I read the comment left by the guest on June 1, 2008. I tried his suggestion about the rinse cap adjustment and WOW it WORKED. No more growling noise. Thanks you saved me a service call.
I had a grinding sound every time I ran the dishwasher. I removed the bottom part of the dishwasher until I got to the rotating blade. I found a piece of plastic that had come off of a piece of tupperware-like container. Once removed, grinding sound dissappeared.
A grinding noise from the maytag quiet series 200 when it first starts. What causes this
On my quit series200 maytag the bottom wand will not spinn thus not cleaning the dishes on the bottom rack i open the door realy quick and the bottom wand has not moved from the spot i put it in.

Sometimes the water jets towards the end of the wand that are angled (the angled water propels the wand around) can get filled with gunk. Clear them out with a pick of some kind. Sometimes takes a few tries, but the wand should start rotating again.
Run some vinegar through the machine - or run something like CLR - which will help clear detergent build up in the machine.

Grinding noise is going on all the time when its washing arms rotating. But
the noise comes from buttom right. The result is not good. Some dishes not clean. I thought washing arm is stuck causing motor trying hard. I
open the door quickly to see arm location. It looks like it is changing, which means it still is rotating.
exact problem when starts up..what to do?
Same problem, just started today 6/1/08.
I had the same problem and it started today 6/1/08 - 1.5 yrs after its purchase. Here's what I did: I opened and closed and restarted the dishwasher twice - the low frequency growling noise persisted. Then the third time I stopped the washer, I noticed that the rinse agent wasn't being used up as fast as in the past - I opened the rinse agent filler cap and noticed a slight sucking noise as I opened the filler cap. I closed the washer and restarted it. The noise was still there. Opened the washer again, opened the filler cap, moved the rinse agent release pointer from 1 to max, closed the filler cap, closed and restarted the washer - no more low frequency growl. Is it the solution? - I dont know, maybe just coincidence, but didnt cost anything to try.
I have a grinding sound when I start my dishwasher (maytag quiet series 200). I don't know how to disconnect the bottom to clean it out. There are no screws to take out just. Does anyone have a manual or experience to help me clean this out
