A dirty pad will malfunction. FORTUNATELY, the 1545 usually has a good warranty, so before you wait any longer, get Dell on the phone and get it fixed. You will get it back in 10 days, like new.

How do I turn off the internal mouse pad?

Hi,

There is no button/ key to turn off Internal Mouse (Touchpad) in a Dell Inspiron 1545 so you may try following the below steps which might help:

    (1)Click start.
(2)Type device in the search box and select device manager.
(3)Double click on Mice and other pointing devices.
(4)Right click on the Internal mouse and select disable.

    Thanks and Regards.

Everytime i type on my raggedy *** inspiron 1545 laptop the pressure pad has me jumping all around the screen. Is mine just screwed up or is it that sensitive.

I had this exact same problem (along with many others) on my 1545. It is because of the awkward position of the touchpad that the ends of the thumbs come across and touch it and move the cursor. This is actually a pretty common thing with other manufacturers too, but it's real bad with the 1545 series. I never did figure out a way to disable it within Windows by itself, I did figure out how to stop it by using third party software. If you download a program called "TouchFreeze" it disables the touchpad whenever you are typing.

My inspiron 1525 touchpad is broken, if i dont use a mouse the cursor will not going to move, stock. please help me how to solve this problem. thanks

If this is physically borken then you will have to get it replaced or a temporary solution is that you can use a usb mouse.
and if it is an issue with just the cursor and the touchpad is intact then you will have to reinstall the drivers and it will work absolutely fine.
you can do it from the dell drivers cd or you can go to the dell support website.
www.support.dell.com click on drivers and downloads and download and install the Dell touchpad/pointing stick drivers.issue will be resolved.

I have Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron lap top. My

Update the driver for your Keyboard/Touchpad. Got to Dell's Download Page. Enter your Service Tag, underneath your laptop, to get the correct list of drivers for the corresponding model of your laptop. Make sure to select the correct operating system. The touchpad drivers are located in the Input Device Drivers section, listed as Dell Touchpad / Pointing Stick, Alps - Driver or Synaptics - Driver.

After installation, go to the Windows 7 Start or Orb then in the
type main.cpl, click main.cpl in the list of programs.

1. Click the Dell Touchpad tab.
2. Click Touchpad Settings.
3. Make sure there is a check in the box to the left of TouchCheck, move the slider bar all the way to the right (this can always be adjusted back).
4. Uncheck the box to the left of Tap to Click.
5. Move the slider in the Touch Sensitivity area to the right until it is 3/4 of the way toward Heavy Touch.
6. Click Apply, then click OK.
7. Click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.

Please comment if the information provided has been helpful for the improvement of my support assistance. Thank you and regards.

The touchpad on my Inspiron 1545 isn't responding.

If you reinstalled the drivers then most like there is a problem with the touch pad its self. If you are still under warranty I would call Dell Tech Support to get the touch pad replaced on the system.
