Last email In my last email I asked you for a supplier that carried the E7802-004002 power supply unit. Instead you stated that there was a capacitor repair kit for this unit. That's great news, but you forgot to state where to get it and how much this repair kit is. I am very well versed in electronic repairs, and when I ask for help I assume,as would you,I would get. The comments at the end of your solution are uncalled for.

Qty Part No. Cost Each
5 35mv3300cx Sanyo Electrolytic $1.63
8 25me2200ca Sanyo Electrolytic $0.92
2 Ekmq451ell101mm40s Nippon Chem $5.22 450v 100uf
1 450mv47fc Sanyo Electrolytic $4.09
6 10me1000wxl Sanyo Electrolytic $0.31
1 16me1000ax Sanyo Electrolytic $0.47

The power supply unit of my Sansui 42 in Plasma TV is Faulty. Its make is Samsung P/N 3501Q00160A-REV.A and S/N SE06803740. Kindly assist me find a replacement.

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

I have a Panasonic TH50PZ77U plasma. (1) recently the unit would power off, without warning. (2) The power light blinked several times two nights ago, but finally came on. (3) Last night, no power light on...

Its probably the main filter capacitor thats gone on the power supply, (sorry for mentioning power supply again but it is actually a power supply problem) If you are good at soldering then you can replace yourself, Google Panasonic capacitors and there are a few company that sell repair kits including the capacitors for about £30. Youll need to be good with a soldering iron to replace and make sure you either discharge the capacitors before you touch them or leave the tv plugged out for at least a day because they hold a charge and can really hurt you if they are still charged when you go at them. Best of luck.

We have mercury 845 gvm motherboard dead what can we do to repair

Electrolytic Capacitor replacement is about as far as you can go, unless you have a reflow machine, and access to purchase the various chipsets on the motherboard.

[Most of the time when it is stated that a motherboard is bad, I have found it was a bad Power Supply instead. LED lights light, fans may spin, but the Processor is not getting enough power to turn on. Try a KNOWN to be good, compatible Power Supply for a test unit. Perhaps there is an unused computer that you can borrow one out of for a test ]

Visual signs of capacitor failure. (Problem is they don't always show signs of failure. The Electrolytic Paste inside the capacitor can dry up ) {Motherboards and Power Supply's most generally stick with Radial Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors}

http://www.capacitorlab.com/visible-failures/

A capacitor's values are rated in MicroFarads, and Voltage. A lot of Electrolytic Capacitors, (Radial Aluminum) are marked with a manufacturer code, and do not state uf or Volts. (The symbol for Microfarads looks like uf. This is actually the symbol, ?F. It is also abbreviated as MFD)

The main manufacturers are Japan and China, (Taiwan)
Info to help you decipher the manufacturer code markings,

Radial Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are Cheap.
(I borrowed two 330uf 10 volt capacitors off of a new/old Pentium II motherboard, and installed them in a modem that needed it.

Soldering/De-soldering leaded capacitors:

(You're not going to see any 200 volt 'caps' on a motherboard. Power Supply? Yes)

Hello: Your problem is in the power supply, there are two 2200UF 10volt capacitors in the upper right corner of the power supply that are leaky. The Capacitors supply power to the System Control board and other various parts to the television. You can replaced these your self if you have a mind to and is some what electricaly inclined. These should be replaced with 16v caps instead. If you decide to repair it yourself, after taking the back off, the power supply is generally in the middle of the unit, you will have to remove a metal sheilding paned from over it and look in the upper right side of the board the capacitors should be obvious as they are bulgeing on the top they are right next to each other, They carry 5v to video brd and other parts...

50 inch plasma blank screen

I bought my Philips Magnavox 50" plasma in June of 2007. In february of 2009, I noticed increasingly longer delays in the video coming on after turning on the power and then the audio began to delay coming on. After a few weeks of this problem the audio and video then stopped coming on at all. However, there was power going to the unit because the green power light was working. I noticed over 50 other consumers on this website had the same problem. WITH THE HELP OF OTHERS ON THIS WEBSITE, I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR $40. YES, FOR LESS THAN $100.00 I HAVE A WORKING HDTV AGAIN, BUT WITH NO THANKS TO PHILIPS - MAGNAVOX. THEY WERE USELESS.

HERE IS THE FIX:

1. Unplug your power supply cord.
2. Remove back panel on your HD.
3. Look for capacitors that have a bubbled or slightly raised and rounded top. This indicates the capacitors have overheated or leaked and need to be replaced. The normal look is a flat surface with no raised features at all. (I had two bad capacitors that were side-by-side and identical: 3300uf 10v. Also, they should be located on the power supply board. My power supply board is in the middle of my 50" plasma.)
4. Go to an electronics repair store or Radio Shack and see if they carry your capacitor type and size and replace them yourself if you are comfortable with removing the capacitors and soldering new ones to the power supply board. The capacitors will cost you $2.00 each or less.
5. I was not comfortable replacing the capacitors myself so I removed the power supply board by removing the screws and unplugging several wire connections. This was not difficult at all. I then brought the power supply board to a local electronics shop that did repairs on HDTVs and simply asked them to remove the bad capacitors and solder two new capacitors onto the power supply board. They did it for $40, which included cost for the 2 new capacitors, while I waited and it only took about 10 minutes.
6. I replaced the power supply board and back panel of TV and it worked!!!

Some people on this sight suggested replacing the capacitors with some that have higher temperature ratings. Based on that advice, I wanted to replace my two that were bad (3300uf 10v) with two rated at 4700uf 35v, but my electronics guy suggested against it. Instead, I replaced mine with 3300uf 50v, with the only difference from the original parts being the higher voltage (50v instead of 10v). I figure if the problem occurs again, I now know I can get it fixed for less than $50.00. Philips - Magnavox should be ashamed for such poor customer service and not telling people about this simple fix. When I called their customer service support number I was simply directed to a repair place --over two hours away!!!

Pc no start.........

You might have a bad power supply. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage of the standby power supply. This voltage is present even if the system is off, plugged in. It powers a small portion of the logic circuit. It should measure within a couple of tenths of exactly +5 volts. If it is low, or high, this will prevent turn-on. The purple wire of the 24 pin connector is what carries this to the motherboard. The color coding layout is found at http://pinouts.ru/Power/atx_v2_pinout.shtml If by chance this voltage is OK, then check the full on voltages also. Repair of the defective supply is probably by replacement of one or more small electrolytic capacitors in the appropriate circuit, especially if you are technically savvy. Capacitors are available through several suppliers; Digi-Key supplyies Panasonic FC series which are suitable for switching power supplies. Or, you may just replace the whole unit.
