I just replaced the belt on my GE dryer. The tumbler only spins with a few clothes in it. If I put a full load it turns very slowly eventually stopping. Any ideas what I can do?

1) belt may be stretched, examine belt for cracking and if it looking old replace 2) idler arm/pulley may be wore out, examine 3) drum rollers/glides may be wore out (second link) 4) motor may be going out
The drum in the dryer has most likely has a belt around it that makes it turn. This belt could have broken and you hear the motor running but the drum can't turn. For more info look it up on you tube. (dryer belt replacement)

Did it get tipped in the move? I don't know about the specific model of Maytag, but on my old Kenmore the belt that ran the drum also had a wheel and kind of like a pulley that it had to seated on in order for the belt to stay centered on the drum and turn properly.I don't know how you get the shell off the front to get at the drum, the Kenmore had screws that you had to take out and lift the control panel off and then back to get at the inside. Sorry
Does the Motor turn... We have had many motors with bad capacitors .. check the white capacitors for cracks or metal coming out of it...the motors will run with out a load on the but put a few clothes in the drum and they will just hummm..
