Aspen watch I purchased a cheap "Aspen" digital watch at Rite Aid. It did not come with instructions, and I have no idea how to set the alarm or to turn off the "beep" that it sounds at the top of every hour. Are directions available anywhere? The back of the watch says "Aspen X-JACCI" and it's made in China.

same thing - also purchased at Rite-Aid

  • Anonymous Apr 28, 2008

    My problem, too.

  • higbeepool May 06, 2008

I too purchased a Aspen ANALOG LCD watch (74041 ingraved on the back of the watch) that came with NO instructions as to how the consumer is to set any of the options.

I can't believe Aspen or any other watch manufacture would sell one of thier products with NO instructions.

    Are instructions available?

Rite-Aid, bought one today - same problem with Aspen Watch. I have been combing the net looking for a user manual and the parent company has no web-site or tech support. The US distributor is International Watch Group, 1412 Ave. M Suite 2400, Brooklyn, NY 11230 - It may be worth the price of a stamp it we were to write them, as they too don't seem to have onling contact information either.

I also had the same problem. Went to the recommended website and was able to program the watch.

    same problem

  • ddrew Jun 15, 2008

I bought the same cheap model at Rite Aid. The instructions from the website below were helpful for turning of the alarm and the hourly beeping. However, my watch was supposed to come with a "stopwatch" setting. I still do not know how to use the watch as a stopwatch.

Exact same problem. Bought aspen watch from Rite-aid and no directions. OldGrayMares website solution worked like a charm.

    Thanks.

I have an Aspen X Jacbc and the same problem. I also bought it at Rite Aid. I like the design of the watch, but I've only been able to figure out a few of the functions. Is there a homepage with pdf instructions or a special page that has watch instructions?

I also bought a cheap Aspen Sport watch and could not get it off military time.
Went to the link mentioned above for the Aquatech watches and the instructions also worked for my Aspen Sport watch.

Here is the link again.

I had the same problem with the digital Aspen X-JACBE. I called IWG but they were not able to find a manual for this model. However, I was able to find an instruction for Aquatech that seems to work for my Aspen.

I'm usually pretty good with digital gadgets, but the turning off chime process is just way too obscure...

Call International Watch Group @ 718-623-6000 and give them your watch details. They are more than willing to e-mail / fax a scan copy of the watch manual.

For the alarm: If you want to use it (I think both it and the light use battery faster than when not used), you set it by pushing mode button twice, as indicated above, then go to hour or minute setting by pushing the lap/reset button, and advance to the time you want by pressing the start/stop button. Pushing mode will take you back to normal time again.

To turn alarm on or off, hold lap/reset button in and at the same time push the start/stop button. Alarm icon will show on or off. When you release the lap/reset button, it will revert to normal time.

If the alarm is on, at the designated time it will start beeping for awhile or until the lap/reset button is pushed (off) or start/stop button (snooze).

I have an alarm chrono watch from walmart and I can't get it to back to 12-24 hour display

For most of the cheap Chinese digital watches sold at Walmart you simply scroll through the different numbers while setting the hour part of the time -- 1 to 12 then 13 to 23 to 0 then 1 to 12 AM and 1 to 12 PM then 1 to 12 to 13 etc. When the watch is in 24 hour time (as used by most of the world outside the US and Canada) most will show the letter H instead of A or P.

For some of these watches, you need to be in Alarm set mode to be able to scroll through all the choices, and that will control how both the alarm and the watch show time.

For a few others, you get to select A or P or H separately from the numbers, either while setting the time or while setting the alarm.

The Chinese factories that build these watches seem to put any of the different kinds of insides into any of the same cases, so you might have any version -- and the companies rarely bother making sure that the instructions match the actual watch.
