When using my Lenovo T43 and I type the J, K, L, U, I, O, or P keys, I keep getting the numbers being typed that are also on these keys. How do I get rid of the numbers when I only want to type the letters on these keys?

You have to have NUMBERLOCK ON to use the number pad .if you don't want to use the number lock key all the time you can go into the bios and change the setting for numberlock , then your pc will boot with number lock on all the time.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "IBMSupport" or "Lenovo Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers. You can also try getting the audio drivers from Driver Guide at:http://www.driverguide.com
You didn't supply enough information. You need a model number followed by a type number. Something like T43 type 2685-4YU
This information will be on the label on the bottom of the laptop, or you can also find it in the bios. Once you have it go to the Lenovo support site to download the drivers.
Did you get the firmware from the site below?
Link to hardware maintenance manual for reference: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/39t2393.pdf
Here's the fix straight from the maintenance manual:
If in the primary bay the customer is using a non-IBM or non-Lenovo hard disk drive (HDD), or an old generation IBM HDD which is not supported by this system, with the risk in mind, the customer can still use it by pressing ESC. If in the primary drive bay the customer is using a supported IBM/Lenovo HDD with an old firmware, the customer needs to update its firmware to the latest. The latest version is available at http://www.lenovo.com/think/ support
You have enabled the number lock feature on the keyboard. Hold the fn key and press the num lk key, the fn & numlk are in blue on most keyboards, this combination enables or disables the numbers lock.
