Try to reformat it. It might be a virus or a bug.

For sure, the file system is corrupted and is the cause of your woes. The fix lies with the Philips Songbird software. If you do not have Songbird, download it for Windows or Mac here:http://www.usa.philips.com/c/mp3-media-player/22126/cat/en/#/difference/philipssongbird.

Once you have Songbird installed, launch it and select "Repair my Philips device" in the Tools menu. Select your device and follow the instructions specific to your device. For example, instructions for the GoGear Vibe are to disconnect the device, power it down completely, and hold the volume-up key during and after USB connection until the message window disappears.

If the repair utility endlessly indicates it is checking for updates, you are likely using an out-of-date version of Songbird - probably the one that came with your GoGear. If this describes your situation, launch Songbird and select "Check for updates" in the Help menu. This will at least get you upgraded to version 1.9 (currently), even though the latest version is 1.11 (currently).

Instructions that came with some older versions for connecting GoGear in repair mode were incomplete. They left out a crucial step of turning off the GoGear and waiting for it to power down completely before reconnecting in repair mode. Newer versions of Songbird include the ability to reformat the device, reset the device, and to get progress updates during synchronization.

I am unable to down loag CD on to my new GoGear Mix Mp3 player the instructions are none existant

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.Click on this link for instruction on converting musicfiles to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

How to download music to Phillips Go Gear 4G.

Use Windows Media Player to load songs onto it. Here are my help files:
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/wmp10/harrison_wmp10.mspx

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0085.mspx#EDF

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

''playback error'' message

There are MP3 files with problems, and when they are buried in the MP3, it causes the player to either skip, go to the end, or give an error.

Search for MP3VAL (it's on sourceforge, a free program) and it fixes broken MP3 files. It can do a whole directory very fast. It fixes file length problems in the headers, problems with the streams, and others. If the original MP3 file is badly mangled, you might end up with a "fixed" file that is missing some portions, but that's not created by MP3VAL (MP3 Validate).

MP3 Player Scan DIsk

Yes, you can, although using Window Media Player to transfer/sync is very slow. It is essential to use Windows Media Player if you want to transfer licenced .wma files but it is quicker to just drag & drop the files in Windows.

(.wma files are like mp3s but use a different encoding method)

If you are happy to take the slow route using WMP, (or you need to use WMP to transfer .wma files) then connect your player to the computer by USB, open WMP & click "Sync". Your player should show & you can add files to it in this window.

For quicker file transfer, just locate your connected mp3 player (Start/MyComputer) then copy & paste, or drag & drop files or folders onto it.

Hope this helps!

Insignia mp3

Please provide more information on the error message.

You can use Windows Explorer to transfer files to your insignia sport player. First, in the settings on your player, go to Settings, USB Mode, Connection Type and select File & Folder. Then, plug your player in to your USB cable. Windows XP should automatically find your player and make a new drive letter in Windows Explorer. Simply drag and drop your mp3 files from your c drive to the new drive for your player. You'll notice that when you delete the files on your new drive for your player that it doesnt remove them from your player. You'll need to use your player (settings, system, erase internal) to erase internal (and external), but after that when you add new files, they will be added to the player when it does the profiling after you disconnect the USB cable.
