No utility stitches on my husqvarna prisma 980

Hello, I've been given a husqvarna prisma 980 sewing machine and it'll only sew straight lines...
I'm very inexperienced with these things and have read the manual many times but it seems it won't even do utility stitches when selected (let alone the fancy ones) I really have no idea....

    it was the needle position stepper motor or something that sounded similar :( = sewing machine fail

    I am having the same problem. Can't get it to zig zag on any stitch. Can't open the back to look at it. Did you ever get yours fixed?

On your cards the white squares need to bewhite. If they have yellowed do this. I took my self adhesive stamps and cut out 5/16 squares out of the white boarder and placed them on the yellow squares, it worked! on a few I had toplace two squares on on top of the other.

I am sorry for your problems. it seems that you have problems with the motor. I am from sweden and i am looking for spare parts for my machine. If you are willing to sel me your parts i will be hapy to by them.

research shows that the 945, 960 and viking are all of the same family
I searched - user manual for husqvarna prisma 945 sewing machine and got that
also alot of pdf versions for down loads that have photos of the machines so c;lick on each one to check any resemblence to your unit

Hi , I bought a Husqvarna Prisma 990 , but I don't have the part on the right side (front) that can be used for different stitches , where could I get it ? Also , can the machine work without it ?
check with a Husqvarna dealer or a sewing machine shop in your area, and you can even try ebay,, sewvacdoctor.com, a1sewingmachines.com and see if they can help you.. as far a saying if the machine will sew with out it,, I really can't say for sure..

Why is my Viking Prisma 940 only sewing straight stitch - none of the patterns are working
1. the twin needle button is turned on ( good news). (not sure if this is a function on 940 just check because it is simple to see.
2. the zig zag stepper motor or controller is non functioning. (new computer board or stepper motor) bad news no longer available

Husqvarna Prisma 980 decorative stitch cassettes don't work
Hi,
On that machine, the cassettes aren't actually computer chips. Each cassette has a little spot of white on a certain little area you must find (top right I'm pretty sure). Look in the machine at that point. There is a sensor that looks for that white spot, and as it identifies it, it changes stitches according to that cassette. Either the sensor is blocked, gone bad, or you can put a fresh coat of white paint on with white out. I hope this helps.
