Please confirm me your operating system and if you have installed full printer software on your computer or not and if yes then are you able to scan using the HP software?

I have a HP Photosmart 2575 xi all in one printer and I need to be able to scan documents and photos. I have no idea how to do it. How do you scan these things. I use the printer and the copier but have...

1. Turn on your computer, wait for it to boot up, then turn on the printer.
2 Double click the "HP Photo Imaging Director" icon on your desktop ( placed there when your
printer was installed on your computer ). A menu screen will appear showing the scanning
options of the printer.
3 Place your document or photo on the printer's glass top and close the lid.
4 From the menu screen, click on " Scan Picture " or " Scan Document "
When "Scan Document" is selected, a secondary screen will appear from which you will have to
make choices. After making your decisions, click "Scan" from the listed screen.
When "Scan Picture" is selected, one scanning pass will be performed, another pass will be
made after you view the result of the first pass.
Scanned pictures will go to the HP Photo Gallery and your "My Picture" folder.
Scanned documents will go to your "My Documents" folder.
Good Luck with your scanning operations!!

I had this problem also and came to find out that in order to scan, you have to go into your "PAINT" and go to "FILE" and scroll down to "FROM SCANNER OR PRINTER" and then follow the instructions. It works!

HP Scanner will not scan??

Sounds like a driver problem.

I would uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. Be sure to keep the scanner disconnected from the computer until the software prompts you to plug it in.

Afterwards I would go to the HP site and download the updated drivers.

HP Photosmart 2575 scanner / copier

The most common causes of this issue are 1: you do not have the software installed on your computer (or you need an updated version form the HP web-site) and/or 2: you are connecting to the printer over a network and your firewall is stopping the printer from accessing the HP software on your computer. A little more info would be helpful in diagnosing the problem; What Operating System is your computer running? Is your computer connected to the printer via USB or over a network? Do you have the latest HP software installed? Do you have more than one printer, scanner or all in one device connected to your computer? Has the printer always had this problem or has it worked before?
